This is the second veterinary clinic Ive visited for an annual check-up for my dog since moving to Virginia in 2011. I came to Ferry Farm Animal Clinic on the recommendation of a clinic in another area that was recommended by whippet people, but a little bit too far of a drive. I had a great weekday evening visit to Ferry Farm. First, its a stand alone building so theres lots of parking space. Theres a small yard of grass in front of some of the parking so if you need a leashed potty time before going in, theres space for it. When you walk in, the waiting area is spacious and consists of two alcoves, which I imagine makes it easier to wait on a busier day. The clinic decor is somewhat dated, but very clean and comfortable I was greeted warmly by the office staff, assisted with the new client paperwork, and taken to the exam room in a timely manner. The assistants and vet techs were all very friendly and really helped to put my dog at ease. We never waited more than a minute or two alone in the exam room. Dr. Foster was great! She answered all of my questions about heartworm preventatives, joint supplements, and immunizations and let my dog try some joint supplements I asked about before selling them to me to make sure shed eat them. There were no sales pitches or sticking to a brand, just good information. It was a relief to be somewhere with sight hound experience. We had to wait in a little bit (maybe 5 minutes) of a line to check out, but there was plenty of space and Ive waited in longer lines after a dental cleaning. The entrance and exit are through doors on different sides of the clinic so you dont have to walk through a room full of nervous animals on the way out. The pricing is on par for what Ive seen in the area for an annual exam, a vaccination, heartworm test, heartworm meds, and joint supplements. While my dog wasnt initially relaxed, with all the kindness she was shown she had stopped shaking by the end of our visit. This never even happened at our regular vet in California. After last years experience at the vet-to-remain-nameless, I was very pleased with my appointment at Ferry Farm Animal Clinic and would recommend it to anyone.

I would give 5 stars except I think they are about 10-15% too expensive. But I still pay because they are the right choice for exotics. Dr. Chrisawn gives a good diagnosis without extensive and expensive diagnostic testing. So I actually save money because I dont have to pay hundreds for diagnostic tests. They are not an emergency clinic. You need an appointment. Anybody who complains that they were turned away also admits that they did not have an appointment. Dr. Hart is good and returned a phone message I left for him later the same day and he offered to make a phone call to another vet for me which I think was very generous of him. No sales pitches and no suggestion of expensive diagnostic testing before giving an educated probable diagnosis after physical examination. All staff are polite and professional. You know how sometimes employees might say a nice thing to you but they say it with a hateful tone? So they are showing their disgust for you with their tone? NOT THIS PLACE! Every employee tries hard to help and seems to keep a perspective that patience with pet owners (who can act a little nutty when their furry friend is sick) can really go a long way. Very busy place. Not an emergency clinic.

I had to bring my female yorkie in 4 times with a large spot on her head, which we were charged an office visit all but 1 time. Dr.C kept her on antibiotics for 3 months even though I told her that the spot wasnt healing. The antibiotics werent working because it was a ring worm! Had she taken the time to actually look at my dog, she wouldve known that. The vet talked me into getting a food allergy test even though the spot didnt even resemble an allergic reaction to food. But I switched her to an expensive food anyway for NO reason. I took my dog to my hometown vet where he figured out in 2 minutes what was wrong with her, just by using a black light. I wasnt all that upset by the amount of money I had to spend but the point is that my dog had to suffer for 3-4 months with ring worm. What it boils down to is pure negligence and stupidity. The vet eve called me to apologize for "being too stupid to figure that out". Those were her exact words. They lost a really good client because I have 4 dogs that are very well take care of. I will NEVER go back to a vet that admits shes stupid.

We took our dog here after hearing this vet practice recommended by many other dog owners., and our experience with the vet was wonderful. She had a great "bedside" manner, was very calm, very attentive. I really appreciated that she didnt seem to be in a rush at all and took time to listen and also chat about general dog things. Overall, I loved her and am glad to have her as our new vet in the area. That being said -- I waited 30 minutes past my appointment time to be seen, and was not even acknowledged by the waiting room staff (after signing in) until sitting there for 15-20 minutes. It was the end of the day so I understand that things may have been running behind, but I was the only person in the waiting room most of the time and I would have appreciated it if one of the staff behind the desk had checked in with me occasionally to update me or apologize for the wait or something like that. So that irked me, and thats the reason Im only giving 4 stars, but Ill definitely be happy to go back for the vets services.

WOW! Ive been taking my dog here for years, and had to take my dog in this morning because he is very sick. I left my dog in the car to go fill out any necessary and the lady at the counter was very annoyed that I brought him in, as a matter of fact she started throwing paper work around -- grunting and breathing heavy. I could say some horrible things about her and that facility but why bother. If you you want to take a member of your family somewhere that doesnt CARE and put up with an obnoxious staff that has an inability to control their behavior this a great place.

They charged me 49.00 for a exam fee when they only thing that they did was weigh my dog. I asked why is am getting charged for something they didnt do and they told me they have to charge me for it anyway every time any dog comes. The vet did not even touch my dog or nothing. I got robbed of 49.00. Also they charged 42.00 for a ear cleaning which the vet did not even do. I will not taking my pet their anymore after this. I refuse to pay for services that are not done

I was looking for a back-up vet near my workplace as I am a commuter to the King George area. This vet would not agree to take any of my future sick pets as a walk-in!! Literally said I could be turned away if I used them as a backup vet and showed up at their door in an emergency. Called Eagles Nest Animal Hospital up the road and they said they would be more than happy to help any pet, any walk-in. They agreed to be my back-up vet. Ferry Farm, shame shame!
