I adopted a wonderful, lively dog from a shelter and because she was not fixed the shelter made the appointment to have her spayed at River Oaks. Having no prior experience with this business I trusted the shelter and their judgement. I picked up my new dog after her surgery and brought her home to rest. Within three hours it was evident that something was wrong. After calling the emergency number I was met at the clinic by Dr. Scott McCorkindale who was on call for after duty emergencies and his staff. I was beyond grateful that the after hours care was available, however my new pup passed away on the drive to the clinic. I cannot express how horrible this felt, to have adopted an addition to the family only to lose her within hours of bringing her home. We discovered her internal stitches had come loose and my poor baby bled out. Although I had little experience with Dr. McCorkindale outside this evening, I would trust him with my future animals. His bedside manner was impeccable and I truly believe had he been the one to do the surgery on my doggy she would still be here today.

I would not advise taking your animal to this hospital if the doctor I used 2 years ago is still working. One day I noticed my cat had a small amount of blood coming from her mouth, quickly I called up my normal animal hospital but they were booked up. River Oaks Veterinary Clinic had an opening and I quickly rushed my cat over only to have the doctor glance inside of her mouth for what seemed like seconds and inform me she had a small cavity and nothing else was the matter. A few months later I notice that my baby will not open up her mouth to eat or drink so this time I rush her to a different hospital, turns out she had bone cancer and her jaw had fused together and was inoperable. They informed me that at that point there was nothing they could do but give her pain medicine and I eventually had to put my kitten to sleep in my arms. She was my best friend and if the doctor had been more throughout in his examination she would most likely be alive today. Thanks a lot.

Disgusted I got my first dog, and I ignorantly trusted the vets here. I puppy here for a few visits and it was horrible. The staff was extremely rude and I was often rushed in and out without actually seeing the doctors. At an appointment, I asked about my puppys ears because they looked really red with dark spots. Was told not to worry about it, in a few MONTHS he would need his ear hair plucked. Decided to get a second opinion the very next day and sure enough the groomer and the new vet that I took him to verified that he had an ear affection. I have a breed with a lot of hair and had been told for weeks that things like ear plucking were not necessary. The hair in his ear canal caused the infection so the vet plucked the hair and flushed his ears out. The time and money I spent riding around town to a groomer and hunting down a new vet quickly all could have been avoided. Just glad I found out quickly.

Dont trust this office. I really liked this vet when I first took my cats there. Their prices were reasonable and they seemed to be pretty helpful. The more I dealt with them, the more I disliked the service and the vet techs. I ended up having to put a cat to sleep, at the suggestion of the office, that was old and having kidney problems. When I tried to adopt another cat, the vet tech that I worked with told the adoption agency that I put down a healthy cat and should not be allowed to adopt another one. When I found this out I was horrified and distraught and called to request to talk to the Dr that owns this office. He never returned my call. When I called to transfer my other cats records to a different vet in the area, they were rude and unconcerned. I wish I would have checked the reviews on this place before I went there.

Absolutely incredible veterinarians! My wife and I have had a total of twelve dogs and three cats over the last twenty years, and River Oaks has cared for all of them. They have even made house calls for us. Unlike some of the local animal hospital who seem most interested in collecting fees, River Oaks truly cares about the animals and their people. Theyve made our pets well (and welcome), handled their routine inoculations, boarded our dogs, done surgeries when necessary, x-rays, spayed and neutered all of our pets, helped us and our pets with end of life care, and even handled cremations for us. Their email reminders of services due is really handy - (with 4-5 dogs its easy to lose track of shots!), and their "hands on" attention to our pets couldnt be better. Great vets, great staff. I highly recommend them.

I miss this place SO much!! This was the best vet clinic Ive been to in four states. The people there genuinely care about animals, and it shows. The folks on staff are very sincere and knowledgeable, and they answered every question I had. The clinic itself is a remodeled house, too, so even the unique layout adds to the comfort level there. My cat was at ease there, which never, ever happens. I was very impressed by how tender the physician was in handling my kitty, and how much she trusted him---again, that never, ever happens, anywhere. If I could afford the 80-mile round-trip, Id still be going there for all of my cats needs. River Oaks Veterinary Clinic is truly a hidden gem.

My husband and I came all the way from Stafford to River Oaks because the reviews online were great. We were not disappointed! All of the staff were caring and attentive even though we came on a very busy Saturday when they had a promotion for rabies shots. We were worried about our sick Siamese mix kitten but the doctor and the super sweet and helpful veterinary technician Philip put us at ease and spent a lot of time answering questions, teaching us how to administer our kittens meds, and making us feel like we were friends, not just another client. I would definitely recommend this clinic to anyone who loves their pets and expects reasonable prices.

I have been going to ROVC for about 2 years. I have 2 dogs & 2 cats. Dr. M. has always given me & my pets great care. He is a great listener & has a very calm way with my pets. Recently made changes in their office staff...Thumbs Up! They are friendly, knowledgeable, helpful & appear to enjoy their work/calling. Lisa & Ruth have been very special. They came to my home & transported my very sick, large dog to the clinic when I could not move him. If you ask Dr. McCorkindale to make a home visit for reasonable requests, he will be right out. Great attitudes by the staff & 2 doctors. I will keep coming back.

Went there as an out of state-er, in a sort of frantic state, after calling while stuck in the 95 North express lane accident closure. The lady I spoke to was very awesome and optimistic towards my nervous description of my dogs state. I arrived with a pretty simple complication I believe but was treated well and with understanding. They took my dog in pretty quick on short notice and nicely dealt with him and me and a friend. Price was well dealt for what I kinda figured it would have been for what they had to do and meds. And in house coffee and cold water to boot! Good people and setting.
