I had 2 dogs, litter mates, for almost 13 years. The first one had to be put down at Afford -a-Vet in Feb & I just recently had to lose my other dog. (I chose another Vet). There is no comparison between the two Vet clinics- Afford-A Vet should hang their head in shame & that is why I decided to write this review. Afford-A-Vet knows of my disgruntlement & has assured me that changes are being made- I hope so, but my experience suggests that they prefer to hide their mistakes & blame others. Right from the start- my 1 & only visit was a disaster. The Vet was unperson-able. She really didnt talk to me at all. She fumbled getting the needle in- the way they were holding my dog was ridiculous & she was becoming more scared. The assistant wouldnt stop to let me get in better position to help & calm my dog. Finally the Vet resorted to a butterfly- which should have been used first. I was having a private cremation. When my dog ashes were not back in the allotted time frame, I started calling daily. They said they were in contact with the crematorium & it was behind schedule- - - -(This was a down & out lie- The crematorium was not behind schedule & didnt even have my dog yet!)It was on the 10th day when my phone conversation ended up with me in tears that this office discovered my dog was still in their freezer. They hadnt been in contact with the crematorium. On day 11, I was told that my dog wasnt back yet & thats when I decided to make my own phone calls & through conversations, I knew something wasnt right. I was assured that my dog would be back to the vet on a specific date & she was. THE VET OFFICE CALLED ME TO LET ME KNOW THAT MY DOG WAS IN. (Ill explain in a moment as to the large caps) When I went to get my dogs ashes- I asked where had my dog been. The receptionist finally fessed up & told me that my dog had been in their freezer all along. Of course I was upset & after I left their office, they said the Vet had tried to call me at home but couldnt get anything. They said each time they dialed- there was nothing- no ringing, busy signal, or voicemail. Strange, so I checked later & sure enough, my phone number was entered wrong in their computer system- leading me to believe that I had transposed numbers giving it to them. Again shift the blame- my number must have been right in my chart because they had called me. The topper with all of this grief- their services were $60 higher than the other place & they didnt even give me a choice of a urn. The other clinic gave me a choice & they use the same crematorium. I am just very sad that I ever entered Afford-A-Vet Clinic & entrusted my beloved to pet to them

Came here last January to have my puppy vaccinated, micro chipped and neutered. We had been in here months prior to continue the vaccination sequence when my puppy was diagnosed with parvo. Hank managed through the ordeal and bounced back after a week of misery on his end. Unfortunately for us we missed out on his vaccination sequence and had to restart the whole series over. This in itself is understandable (nothing you really can do to control the circumstances) but we had a lack of communication from the clinic to myself that resulted in a wasted trip to the hospital. For our neuter appointment the staff as usual were very polite and prompt in getting us checked in. The office is clean and well organize with dietary products on display for purchase. Our surgery was completed within a few hours and we were out the door for roughly $180 including full vaccinations, microchip, cone, standard sterilization of a 20 pound male and pain meds. Though the surgery was a little pricey for my standards my only complaint against the clinic is that they did not trim my dogs nails while he was under sedation. To be fair I was not asked if I wanted this done nor did I actively request it but from my experience as a vet tech in Utah this is something we did as a standard procedure. The animal is already under and the process takes no more than a minute to complete. For $180 bucks out the door I feel the little things like this should be payed attention to and taken care of. Would I recommend for my and other animals to visit this clinic? I would with the only advice being that the owners detail specifically what they want done .

This is a terrible place. The veterinarian Shannon D. gave my friend’s dog a shot without giving her the full explanation and details of the symptoms. They only told my friend, who is 19, that the shot will help with Maxs itching problem. No paper work was given to her after the shot. Max experienced an increase in appetite and extreme thirst. He wanted to drink water every 15minutes. This caused many accidents and it was difficult to leave him in the house alone for more than three hours without needing to use the restroom. It was hard to deny him water because he was panting. Before this shot, Max was great at letting us know when he wanted to use the restroom or eat. However, to my shock he had trouble barking. It was hard to see him try to bark when he did. It was softer and for a shorter duration. Even more upsetting, on 9/17/16 Shannon shut the phone on my friends mother when my friend went back to see what they could do. She told my friend with her little sister that if they dont like the service to get out of the clinic. She was asked to pay $60 for that rude and unprofessional check up. She was told to never come back and that she was "fired" from her service.

My small dog, Bella, just had a dental done here. I work down the street and took her here for vaccines while she was at work with me one day. They were super quick and very friendly, so I booked her a dental for a Saturday. Ive worked in the veterinary area for years and now Im in animal welfare, so knowing what can go wrong makes me nervous. They had her ready before they expected and had no problems with explaining everything they would be doing. When I picked her up we brought my boyfriends dog for vaccines, but since it was a Saturday, of course they were very busy. Its a low cost clinic with a lot of patients. However, the nurse that brought Bella out (I wish I remembered her name) was very friendly, made sure I didnt have any extra questions, and was even able to squeeze our second dog in for vaccines real quick. The post operative medicine for anesthesia worked wonders and Bella was alert and happy upon picking her up. Her teeth look amazing, and Ill definitely keep coming back. I would recommend a week day for fast service or vaccines. Maybe a 45 minute wait on a Saturday during lunch, but its still worth it.
