My cat was diagnoised with renal failure a year ago, regardless of all the blood work up from other vets. My cat was on fluid therepy, iron and KD kidney cat food. Moved from prescrption for crystals to kidneys. He was feeling better. Wanting to be a part of the family. When sick he secluded himself. I was enjoying his new healthy behavior. He had taking a turn for the worst. Each passing day he declined. I wanted to make an appointment with my own vet, but they only had Monday available. I knew i couldnt wait for Monday as he couldnt walk and urinated on himself. My vet gave me the number for Emergency hosp, but emergency hosp cost way to much. I remember the bayport vet when my husband worked at the near by apt complex before he was diagnosed with renal failure a year ago. (My cat, Last Chance was diagnosed first tgen a month or 2 latter the husband was diagnosed. ) i contacted Bayport vet for an appointment and got one. I seen Dr. Wheat. She came across as down to earth and realistic. She said, this is the first time im meeting last chance and this is what i see. She said to me and my husband 2 avenues in hosp or to sleep. She was realistic about the treatment in hosp, but a week or 2 we will be back as an on going treatment as he declined. I knew in my heart i could not put my cat tgrough the addirional treatment. I knew he was sick and miserable. Losing weight. Not walking and urinating on himself. Not moving. He would be fine for a week and back again. I love him and cant continue to let him suffer with trying to keep him alive because i cant say good bye. To know this was bad with what he was going through, but to know at this stage it will only get worse. I had to tell my kitty so long and wait for me at Rainbow Bridge one day i will be there and we will be tigether again. Dr. Wheat, did not sell me a bill of sale as other vets did. To give me false hope. She was straight forward. She didnt pad the bill as other vets would and did. If we do this Last Chance will be fine and will live a good and happy life. I appreciated her earnest. I go through vets like water in search of one that is straight forward and honest. One that had your fur baby in mind and not the dollar. I feel confident i found it in dr wheat. To note : when we came in she could of said blood work up. Test. Xrays. Many would and that is what i was expecting. She came in and said, "i received the blood test from the other vet. I cant tell u how i appreciated her at such a difficult moment. In the mist of dark and sorrow u need that honest vet that cares about your fur baby and she did and not drain the pockets of the human mommy and daddy. Not padding the bill. We were giving some time to say our goodbyes, which i appreciated. My time alone with my friend. The other thing that i appreciated and touched me was how she did it. Instead of a needle to watch them struggle to catch their last breath she sedated my cat Last Chance then the sad act of the needle was adminstrated. He was not aware of anything. That is the real humane to do it. Im going to call if they take that VCA insurance if they do Dr. Wheat is definitly my new vet for my puggle Tullamore, but if she doesnt then i will stay with the vet i am at until the insurance is over. I prefer to take my girl to Dr Wheat. Looking for a vet? Looking for a new vet? Look no further Bayport animal hosp Dr. Wheat i will give 1000 gold stars

Please do not bring your beloved pet here. Long story short she talked me into putting my dog to sleep when there were other options she FELT I couldnt afford . Well $1000 plus dollars later between her disgusting self and the animal emergency on a Sunday night her assumptions were wrong. She came up with every excuse in the book to put my dog to sleep only after 3 days of medication. My entire review of this unethical so called animal lover is on google along with her response of pure lies. To the person below whos dog she killed as well my heart goes out to you for trusting this so called vet as I did. Her and her staff are complete liars and will be held accountable by law on what she did to my precious baby. I have witnesses who were there and heard her lies and excuses. Please do not bring your precious babies to this heartless woman who needs about another 20 yrs of training and a few yrs of learning some ethics and morals. Notice how she replies to only her good reviews and probably has removed most of the bad. Shes horrendous as is her staff as well.

Dr. Wheat and her staff are top notch!! I had a very sick cat that they helped me to nurse. Dr. Wheat was in constant communication with me, via even text message because I couldnt get calls at work. She monitored his progress so closely. The staff was so kind and took time to give my baby the personal care he needed.....during his stay there he was unhappy about being alone and would cry for someone to sit with him....they DID! I couldnt have asked for better care. Dr. Wheat is also an amazingly talented surgeon and had to perform surgery on him. He pulled through the procedure because of her skill And expertise. I will be bringing all of my pets to this facility. It is so hard to find an animal hospital that has it all...skilled staff, convenient office hours, affordable prices, a beautiful building, and that personal touch that is so important when one of our fur kids isnt feeling well. I would recommend this hospital to anyone and everyone! This is how a veterinary hospital SHOULD be!

Lots of love and caring professionals here. We recently took on two kittens from a rescue and they needed a visit to a Vet to get a check up in addition to what the rescue folks had done. We werent sure of their health! so I called Bayport Vet Hospital and was greeted by very kind professionals who were happy to schedule an appointment for us quickly. When we arrived, we found the offices to be immaculately clean, and also nicely decorated! Not a spot or hint of dust. We had a great exam for both Summer & Sable and the kitties love their new Vet and so does my daughter and I. Our concerns were taken care of, the kittens received medicine, the sample results were in quickly and our cats will be back in two weeks for a check up. We feel cared for and we see the love of animals here - its our Vet for life!!

We met Dr. Wheat years ago when she saved our new rescue, Cupcake, who was abandoned due to a large tumor on her leg. She lived happily for 3 years after her cancer diagnosis. When our dear Lady Bugg died suddenly of leukemia, Dr. Wheat was there to support us. Now, our Bailey has an ACL tear and Dr. Wheat is navigating us through treatment. She truly cares about our dogs and is conservative, informative, thorough and warm. She is aware of financial constraints but never to the detriment of our pets. Her new office is clean, state of the art and there is not a long wait. We have never been so happy with Veterinary care as we are with Dr. Wheat. Our dogs love her and so do we!
