OK, let me tell you about my story. My mother is 70 years old. She was sick with the flu. I went to her house to walk her dog, a mini-pin. Me and the dog were attacked by a pit bull. My mothers dog was ripped to shreds, stomach and bones hanging out, blood and urine everywhere. Yet, the dog was still alive. We rushed the dog to this hospital, it was late at night, what else could we do? I had to go to the emergency room for dog bites. While I was gone, instead of putting my mothers dog down, ending its incredible suffering, this band of sickos told my mom they could save her dog. A dog my mother loved like a child. There was no way they were going to save an animal in this condition! A mini-pin ripped to shreds! - They took my mothers last 1000$ All the money she had in the world, then said, we are stopping treatment, we need more money! My mother had my sister come down, at 1:00 am, with another 5000$!!! Not 10 min later, they handed my mother her dead dog! Now, I was at the ER because of my injuries, otherwise I would have set these people straight. I went through months of physical therapy, and now I am addressing these unscrupulous, lying, selfish people. This place cares nothing about animals, or people, they care about MONEY! They will lie, give false hope to old ladys, all just to get their hands onto some cash. They should have been honest with my mother, telling her that this animal is beyond help. For Gods sake, the dogs insides and bones were hanging out! But, this so called hospital had dollar sings in their eyes. They saw an easy target, and they took it! - Now that I am well, I will devote my time to putting this filth out of business. And, I will pay attention to where every single employee and doctor goes from here, and I will be there to cost them that job as well. COUNT ON IT!!!!!! Robert Drake.

At 5:30 took my dog was coughing and gaging and thru up once. they took her back some where 20 minutes later to me to examinng room then told me there was a new doctor coming in so had to wait.In another 20 minutes later Dr comes in says they want to do ex rays says shell go right up estimate doesnt tell me what she suspect. Some one else shows up that cant answer any questions. Dr finally come in she thinks its acid reflux. I told her i wanted to see my dog she said xrays would only take a feww minutes. 40 minutes later I told front desk why do you keep owners from there pets? My dog apeared finally. Doctor said they found nothing in xrays. Gave her two shots to reduce acid in stomach. No further instructions. Shots took around 4 hours to start working. After a day and a half back to coughing again did some research gave her a pepcid ac with in an hour back to normal happy dog. Pepcid ac 13.99 trip to your hospital 575.00. I was the only person at your facility that morning was there 3 hours no contact with my dog,why do you have examining rooms if you only put humans in them. Dogs amd humans we be more comfortable together.

[original post 1/21/17] Our Vet recommended this hospital for our critically ill cat. Their level of care and concern was amazing. The care our cat received was outstanding. This is a very caring and professional staff. Sadly we had to put him down. Their faculties for the euthanasia were very comforting for us and our friend. To make matters worse, we had to put down another of our cats within 24 hours. Siblings with similar kidney problems. My special appreciation goes out to Dr. Franco, Dr. Marquez, and the front desk staff who were all so supportive and compassionate. If you have any need for veterinary services, I highly recommend VCA West Coast. Another indication of the level of care demonstrated by the staff; today [1/24/17] we received a hand-written card expressing their condolences about our loss. I have never seen such consideration for a pet owner. These are very professional and compassionate people, and my wife and I thank them very much for going above and beyond what many would consider good care. These people are the best.

Nice staff, BUT..... After taking our dog to his regular vet, we were recommended to go to the ER. We came here. We had two CDs containing xrays/scans which his vet gave us to give to the hospital. This hospital staff misplaced one CD. They found it a few days later. Unfortunately, our dog had to have an exploratory surgery. After the surgery, he was accidentally sent home with TWO EKG tabs stapled to his sides. How could you miss them both? Two weeks pass, we bring him back to this hospital for removal of staples from operation. I expressed to the staff to make sure they find and remove all staples because they neglectfully left the EKG tabs stapled there before. She agreed to search closely. Today, I find multiple metal staples still on him!!! My husband and I carefully pulled FOUR out of our ourselves. Money-driven place, fast-paced and negligent. After THOUSANDS of dollars paid here, I thought we would of gotten better care. Nice staff, but I wouldnt recommend them.

My Jack Russell was swiped by a speeding car going down the alley. He had abrasions on his back legs & road rash on his abdomen. Because I am an ICU nurse at a trauma center I was concerned about internal injuries. VCA staff was very professional & empathetic to my concerns & my dogs presentation. As any trauma service would do, they got X-rays to check for broken bones, they drew labs to check for internal bleeding. Thankfully he checked out with no broken bones & no internal injuries or bleeding. He was sent home with antibiotics for his road rash and pain meds for his abrasions & road rash. He now is 100% healed and is back to himself running & jumping! VCA is an exceptional emergency hospital that will provide the best care for your pet. The staff is professional, the DMV gave me up to date information every step of the way. VCA is the only place to take your pet when you have an emergency situation.

Horrible, horrible, horrible. Will never bring my pet here, again. The staff was rude, slow, and insulting. I felt they were not doing enough for my pet and I asked what an estimate would be for further services even though they insisted I could take my pet home. They came back with an outrageous price and and I had calmed down by then, but they basically shoved an AMA form in my face saying they were now recommending my pet stay there at their ridiculous price! It was ludicrous. I finally signed the form because I had no intention of suing them and I realize they were just doing it to cover their butts, but give me a break...what do you expect from a woman who is bringing her beloved pet in at midnight in crisis mode?!?! I was freaked out, and the staff was clueless, kept changing their recommendations, and had horrible bedside manor. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE! RUDE, INCOMPETENT STAFF AND WAY OVERPRICED!

Highly recommend vca west coast for your pets especially in an emergency. My husband and i were having trouble finding an emergency clinic for our cat that would work with our financial trouble but they worked with us so well. Unfortunately our baby was too sick and she passed but they could not have been kinder for our difficult situation. They waited so long before discussing anything finacial with us and were able to work out a way for us to get a mold of her paw print. They were so kind and patient and willing to do all they could for us. For such a hard situation im amazed at how painless they made it for us (otherwise speaking) Thank you so much to the staff of that night! (Sept 8th) you are truly incredible people !
