I went to the emergency room at Los Alamitos Medical Center on last Saturday night ,08/12/2017. The things the nurses and the doctors are doing are awesome. Unfortunately, one employee a receptionist, who was sitting in front of a computer to typing in all of my information, including my symptoms. Her name is Kelly Metz. Recently I have had to go several times to the emergency room because of my "chocolate cyst". The cramps are so painfully awful that Ive felt as if they were going to be the cause of my death. This is a very painful experience for any one to go through. Anyone with a little mercy in their hearts could see how much it hurt, which is why I couldnt help but to scream in the emergency room. This receptionist asked me a lot of questions, and kept repeating that if i didnt cooperate they "wouldnt see me soon". God knows that I was in such a physically painful situation which is why I couldnt answer the questions at the moment. I informed her that I have records here because Ive been here multiple times, then she told me that she needs to pull my information(s) out. Which caused my much needed assistance to take even longer time. She also kept saying, "oops" this is why I dont rush. I cant put in the correct data." But she should have been competent enough to work well under pressured circumstances!!! Finally, after we were done with all the questions and she asked me to wait because everybody needs to be taken care of and that "theyre other patients in pain." The others patients were sitting there nicely and talking to one another (some were even using their phones!!). She then points at me and tells one of her coworker that she was like me before, which is how she got 16 weeks off from work- this was very rude, inconsiderate, and unnecessary. Since she had stated that shes been through what I was experiencing, I am amazed that she STILL let me wait there for like 30 minutes. I was wondering if she got excited to see me in pain, screaming,crying...which is why she just let me wait, because I was unable to cooperate while she asked me those questions. When I couldnt sit up straight in the waiting room, I laid on the couch and she comes over and ordered me to sit up to have a blood withdrawal or they wouldnt be able to take care of me. I needed have my blood work so I can get my treatment. This was ridiculous, everyone that works in the emergency room know I needed to be taken care of soon. Last time when I was there for the same reason, they let me in IMMEDIATELY (like within 15 mins). She didnt know anything. She is just the person who key in data, thats the only time she is able control and use her power to let a patient wait when they need to be treated asap. Afterwards she blamed me that I cant be treated quickly because of I couldnt sit well to have my blood withdrawal. A nurse came over and took me into a room right after she left. She was trying to threaten me that if I wont sit up and have blood work done I wouldnt be treated quickly. Kelly Metz is SO UNPROFESSIONAL and unkind to others. To have this taken place in front of my two kids was very rude and disrespectful . This just showed me her how UGLY she is on the inside and karma will soon get her. I believe she really isnt suitable to work as a receptionist at an emergency room. She put a great shame to a fine medical facility .

Dr Joel Kizner is such an intelligent, competent and caring doctor. I went to him because I was having difficulty conceiving my fourth child. He was always patient and always took the time to carefully listen to any concerns and address any questions I had. I concieved after a few months and went to him throughout my entire pregnancy. The office is staff is very friendly and genuinely care for their patients, as does Dr Kizner. I was 36 and technically considered "high risk" but was never treated as such or made to feel that there was anything to be concerned about. This was important to me because I wanted a stress free pregnancy and was also planning to have an unmedicated VBAC after two c-sections. My previous OB made me feel like a c-section was my only option, after one vaginal and one c-section delivery, which resulted in me having a second c-section. I felt like I had no options. Having three children already and a very busy life I could not afford to be out for six weeks on pain medication recovering from a c-section. Attempting to have a VBAC was extremely important to me. I feel like Dr Kizner listened to me and knew what I wanted and made it happen. Even when I doubted whether a VBAC after one vaginal and two c-section deliveries was possible, he made me feel like I could do it. More importantly, Dr Kizner responded to every question or concern my husband and I had with facts, evidence, studies and probabilities; hard facts that we could base our descisions upon. We always felt in control and when the time came for me to deliver he was there every step of the way. Always calm and always composed. After 34 hours of labor I gave birth vaginally and unmedicated to my daughter who for the first time with any of my children, I was awake and coherent enough to hold her and breastfeed her for the first hour and a half of her life. That moment made it all worth it and was priceless. I am so happy and so grateful for Dr Kizner and his staff for giving me the gift of those first moments with my daughter. Not being rushed of to the post operating room and taken away, but there holding and getting to know my baby who I had waited so long to finally meet. Thank you Dr Kizner and your staff for giving me the best child birth experience Ive ever had. I wish Id found you sooner!

My Mother was admitted through ER. Her care in the ER was excellent and by day one her medical records showed remarkable improvement on the medication shed been given by the ER DR. From there things went down hill fast. Apparently the Drs in ICU where she ended up the afternoon of the following day changed the medication to the generic form without telling me. In fact her Drs never spoke to me except to get my permission to put her on a ventilator so her body could heal (she agreed to this procedure) when I cornered the DR later to find out what was going on he told me to leave them alone and let them do "their thing". The nurses kept reassuring me my Mother was improving yet I noticed they had removed all liquids plus, from looking at her file (that was before they hid it from me.) she had been placed on Lasic (a powerful diuretic). When I asked if she was getting any nourishment at all they put a bag of some sort of food on her hook which I found out later they never gave her. By this time (Day 3) I was frantically trying to get another DR on her case and failing everywhere I turned but still the nurses reassured me Mother was doing well and her vitals on the machine seemed OK so time went on until day 11 when the nurses told my daughter and me Mother was much improved and they expected her to be off the machine the following day. We went home for a much needed rest believing all was well only to get a call two hours later saying my Mother was dying and she passed before we could get back to the hospital. I ordered her medical records and discovered a new DR my personal physician (who is not on staff there but was concerned about what I told him) had sent to check on her had said her prognosis was very poor and the family should be talked to that very day she passed away and we had been told all was well. If your loved one is in this hospital someone should be with them all the time and if anything remotely like what happened to my Mother is noticed call in the Hospital Administrator or the Patient Advocate asap... which I wish I had done but didnt think about it at the time.
