I dont typically write reviews, but I feel compelled to do so. I unfortunately have a DHMO plan and was forced to use this dentist. It seems dentists who have their own practice have dropped DHMO plans and I plan on changing to PPO as soon as I can. After having a bad experience with Aspen Dental years ago, I was very skeptical about getting dental work at another place like Aspen. This was by far the worst experience I have ever had. The wait wasnt long and first step was x-rays. Xrays were fine, but they didnt ask if I had x-rays done else where. They could have easily made a phone call to my last dentist to retrieve those, but they didnt make any attempt. My next encounter was with the dental hygienist. She went through my mouth with the sharp metal scraper and was running off numbers for someone to write down to see how bad my gums were. After she was done she told me I had the beginning of a bone disease, or some non-sense like that. I let her talk and she vanished and the dentist came in. Usually the dentist comes in after the cleaning. He checked my teeth and he said everything looked good. He seemed like he was pretty decent. After the dentist leaves, the receptionist comes in the room and starts explaining all these procedures I need to have done to fix my potential gum and bone disease issue. She said the procedure was $1700 and I would have to pay $899 out of pocket. WHAT!?!?!? I told her I just wanted a basic cleaning and she tried to encourage me to get the procedure done and explained more options that still would of cost $300. I told her again, all I wanted was a basic cleaning. The receptionist left and the dental hygienist came in and was awkwardly silent. I then received the worst cleaning Ive ever had. She scraped the bottom teeth, then brushed them and that was it. She never touched my upper teeth at all and the cleaning was VERY sloppy, literally. The last place I went to gave me goggles to wear during the cleaning. I felt whatever was coming out of my mouth hitting me in the face and every time she asked me to close my mouth to have the excess saliva, water, blood, etc sucked into the tube, it felt like I was drooling. Cleaning was done, she didnt say more than 3 words and I was escorted to the front desk. I didnt even get a free toothbrush lol. Im not one to write reviews, positive or negative, but felt I needed to get the word out. I felt like I was at Midas or Monro Muffler where they try to sell you a bunch of service for your car you dont need. The only positive about this experience was the dentist and the guy doing the x-rays. Either way, I do NOT recommend this place. If you can find a dentist with their own practice, I would. All these places like Great Expressions, Aspen or Northeast Dental Group are all the same. Holy hell, never again. 1/19/16 Update - I have to call BS on Geoffrey Millers review. Must be affiliated with Great Expressions.

This review is an account of the terrible customer service I received from Great Expressions. As new a customer before receiving any services I explicitly told them that I only wanted services that were 100% fully covered by my insurance. As part a regular cleaning an employee there took additional x-rays were not completely covered and resulted in my owing of a deductible which I found out weeks later. I called to request that the additional x-ray charges be removed as I did not request those services. I was first rudely asked by an employee whether I needed time to save up the money ( the charges were less than $30). Next I was told that changing the claim would be insurance fraud which I found was not true. After calling my insurance company myself, they simply said to have Great Expressions resubmit a new claim and it wouldnt be a problem. After telling this to the employee, they then told me I would have to call them again and get them on a conference call. At this point I had wasted about an hour of my time at work and asked the employee to make that call. She agreed and said she would take care of it. Over a month passed and suddenly I received a bill with the same charges as before. The employee had not resubmitted the claim and had not informed me. I immediately called and was told by a second employee that the manager would call me the following day. That call never came. I then called again days later and the same employee which did not resubmit the claim told me again that she would follow up with my insurance company. Another week passed and she did not return my call. I ended up paying and canceling my next appointment to avoid further wasted time and frustration. My advice is to try somewhere else for dental services. If you do decide to go here be clear early on and get it in writing that if you are getting services that will result in a deductible being applied that they need to provide you with that information before the services are performed.

Sloppy all around: I had a terrible experience at this office and will not be back. The office is clearly a low end dental clinic. My insurance has just changed and this office was on the list and convenient so I decided to give it a try. The office staff is friendly but has no customer service skills and need significantly more training in patient greeting, maintaining professionalism in front of patients and general medical billing and office protocol. The office conditions are minimally acceptable. Clean enough, but not the pristine, professionally finished offices I am use to. The main reason why I will not be back is the monumental arrogance of the dentist when it came to the anesthetic and the sloppiness of her technique. First she forgot to use the topical anesthetic before giving me the Novocain shot. Then she insisted on starting to drill BEFORE I was fully numb congratulating herself on how well she knew my anatomy completely ignoring my insistence that I needed more time and more Novocain, when I winced in pain, she asked if she wanted me to continue or wait. I had to ask for a second shot despite having told them they needed to anesthetize me more than most people. As far as the filling, not only did she leave it high, she never checked the contacts. The result is that every time I floss between that tooth, the floss gets shredded. No dentist I have ever been to has not checked the contact with floss on a multi sided filling. If you have been used to a professional dental practice, run don’t walk away from this place!

I have very bad teeth and have been afraid to go to the dentist for months. The people at this place are some of the nicest folks I have ever dealt with, very caring people. Not once did they put me down for my teeth, give me a dirty look, or tell me what I should have done. Instead they are were very proactive, advising me my options for the future and giving me very informative instructions for how to care for my teeth. They have a Credit financing program and a smile protection plan that gives you 30-50% off treatments for a $80 upfront fee to help cover the cost for those like me without dental insurance. Much like the dental plans you see offered on websites but cheaper and much less of a hassle. If you have dentist fears, no insurance, or just want to be treated with the utmost respect and receive TOP NOTCH care this is the place to go. They are a chain business and can get somewhat busy but they doctors and hygienists give you their undivided attention when they are in the room with you. I cant possibly say enough good things about this place and this is coming from someone who has always loathed going to the dentist. Anshu, Scott, and Lucy are all very nice & understanding people as well as the rest of the staff.
