I have worked in many skilled nursing facilities (SNF) in Pinellas County as a per diem, PRN, or contractor. I have held various employment titles as upper management to staff care provider during my two decades as a medical professional. There are many places out there that have doors to a place - unknown. However, BELLEAIR HEALTHCARE meets the requirements and expectations that I have come to suggest - should be the standard for other SNF. I have seen staff / teammembers provide good customer service, patience, and quality care. Patients have on-site access to various doctors and medical support providers which come here to support patient care. Nursing team provides the type of care that loved ones need and families can appreciate. The rehab team is a solid, interactive, progressive and giving group of professionals. Patients could use many types of machines to aid in their rehab process. They are expecting an approval for an expansion to the already large rehab gym this year. The management team guides all of us to be a more informed, safer, patient focused team. I do understand that not every single person, accomadations, or conviences can be meet by even BHCC, but they will make every attempt to provide good customer service. I thank the management team for their approachable style, support of good patient care and its staff members. Because of this, their annual state surveys have seen successfully high ratings. I have compared other SNF to here. We are clean, fresh and safe. The women in activities department are very busy. They have a bus to help transport patients on outings and help outpatient rehab customers to their appointments. The large shaded patio deck facing the pond is a plus. This gives patients options to "just get some fresh air or catch some sun" or a spot for working out outside throughout the year. These are some the reasons that I stopped travelling around to other SNF for work and came here for fulltime employment.

They meet the minimum requirements for staffing. Response time is poor even with a family member in the room. They accept patients from the community and their gym is too small to accommodate both of their inpatients and outpatients. They were rehabbing patients outside in the heat on their patio. I witnessed a patient in a wheelchair who had a pulley attached to a door (to a storage closet for walkers, etc.) on 9/28/16 She was working really hard and I praised her. Then a staff member asked her to stop her rehab as the staff member had to open the door to the closet. They took the pulley down and whisked the patient away. The communication is poor between family, patient and staff members. The patients may or may not get their allotted 2 showers a week depending upon whether they have a family member to advocate. My Mother waited 30 minutes in the middle of the night for an aide to assist her to the bathroom. She asked when she was admitted for only female aides and the aide that finally came was a male. They are attempting to clean up their act since I advised I contacted an Ombudsman and will be contacting AHCA and the Department of Insurance but this will be short-lived. Do not sent your parent(s) there.

Live out of town and they made me feel like I was with mom her entire stay. They were so friendly when I called to check in with mom and would call me to inform me of her appointments. Even the therapists called me to let me know how she was doing. Thank you all!

Instead of them assisting dementia patients, they very quickly get rid of anyone who shows any emotion and in my personal experience they ruined the life of my husband and his family by abandoning him to be Baker acted.
