We take our Basset/Boxer Mix to Alafia River Animal Hospital to be boarded every time we leave town. She gets so exited when we pull into the parking lot that I can hardly keep her on her leash as she pulls me through the front door. As soon as she sees the staff (who all know her on sight by name) she performs her happy dance and promptly performs her happy tinkle right on the floor. Thankfully everyone on staff laughs and cleans it up. Whats more is as soon as the open the door she takes off and runs straight to the back without even glancing backwards at me to say goodbye. Im beginning to think she loves them more than me! Nonetheless, I am very happy she is so comfortable staying there when we travel. She is also seen as a patient. I am always impressed by the thoroughness of the exams. She receives top notch care with EXCELLENT customer service. I have never been disappointed. As a side note, the fine people at Alafia River Animal Hospital are unaware of my comments. I was looking for their phone number to make an appointment for annual vaccinations and noticed the unsavory comments left previously. I just wanted to provide another point of reference for those people looking for an awesome vet. Thanks!

Shameful. they diagnosed our dog, sold us over $ 200.00 worth of medication, not including the office fee. 2 weeks later when she wasnt getting better we took her to another vet who diagnosed her with cancer. A few days later she passed away. The shameful part is alafia wouldnt even refund the $ 43.00 for the unopened cranberry powder they sold us, and to add insult to injury they mailed us another bill along with the card saying they felt bad our dog died. If you care about your pets, find a place that puts pets before profits when it really matters.

We took our cat in because she was vomiting. They said she had a UTI with a strain of bacteria that they would need to do a $146 culture to identify. After a week of waiting, the techs said that the culture came back negative even though it was the same sample that initially identified the UTI. They said that the sample must have been contaminated in their lab or the one they sent it to, or it sat in the refrigerator too long. I asked for a refund and the owner refused. We went to them for five years. We will not be going back.

We have used them for boarding and vet. care it has been an excellent experience every time. They always greet Maggie with a happy attitude when she comes in to board. It makes us enjoy our vacation when gone, to know that she is having a good time too. Dr. Ellen Matheson, D.V.M. was very knowledgeable about some of Maggies health issues when we first adopted her from the humane society. Highly recommend!

Boarded two dogs with them with 2 expensive chew toys. When they were not returned, the staff said it was my problem and live with it. Very poor customer service. I have no experience with their clinical skills, and will not, as I will not return.

Every experience Ive had with them has been amazing. Through multiple pets, times of sadness and new beginnings.....the doctors and staff have been empathetic, professional, friendly and helpful. I recommend this office to anyone!
