My husband and I got our Presa Canario spayed at the Planned Pethood in Duluth, Georgia today. We heard great things about the clinic and decided to give it a try. When my husband dropped her off in the morning, the lady that talked with him was extremely rude. The very first thing that she said to my husband was your dog is overweight and there will be an extra charge for that in a very rude manner. My husband, in a hurry to get to work, said thats fine and left. When it was time to pick our dog up in the afternoon, I went this time. i was extremely disappointed and taken back by the way the tech talked to me when explaining the post op care for my dog. The very first thing she said to me was "first of all, your dog is morbidly obese". I ignored the comment, since I had my one year old daughter, who was now crying, with me. She seemed very irritated with the fact that my daughter was whining and rolled her eyes when I asked her to hold on a second so I could grab something to calm her down. When I returned she rushed through the instructions, never smiled and seemed like I was a huge bother to her As I was leaving, I was hoping she would ask if I would need any help, since I was carrying a baby, a large bag and now a 103 pound dog who was running into everything. She rushed me out the door. My biggest complaint is that they told both my husband and I that our dog was morbidly obese. When in fact, she is not at all. They probably have never seen our breed of dog and didnt even bother to do any research. Our dog weighs 103 pounds and the average weight for a female Presa Canario is 88-110 pounds. The incision on our dog looks great and Im sure they did a good job but the customer service was absolutely terrible and Im beside myself with the way the tech talked to me and treated me. I feel as if this particular clinic needs to re-educate their staff on how to deal with people as well as knowing the specific breeds of animals that walk through their doors. Poor service all around.

Planned PEThood has to be the BEST organization for getting your cat or dog spayed or neutered in the entire ATL metro area. I cannot recommend them strongly enough. They answer their phones (most other non-profit spay/neuter organizations do NOT, I have learned from experience. Go ahead, call around and see who answers their phone. You will be stuck wasting your day calling any other non-profit and trying to speak to a person -- ask me how I know!) Planned PEThood, in addition to answering their phone, also takes walk-ins at 7:30 a.m. for dogs and 8:00 a.m. for cats if, for whatever reason, you cant get ahold of anyone on the phone (unlikely, since they do answer it) or you cant make a reservation online. Additionally, they are very polite and professional, and patiently explain any and all pertinent details to whoever brings in an animal. They are also kind and gentle with all the animals in their care. Since they are a non-profit organization, their prices are very reasonable. I seriously cant say enough good things about them. You can tell they truly love animals and want to make a positive difference in the world, and they DO. I have had a wonderful experience with them, so I will be recommending them to anyone who needs to spay/neuter their dog or cat.

This place is awful, a scam!! they are morally reprehensible. If I could give it 0 stars I would. I went here because they advertised a low cost shot clinic held on the weekend. The advertised price on their website and when I called was a rabies vaccination for 10 dollars. When I got there we were asked to fill out paperwork. The papers specifically asked if you wanted a vet to do a checkup for your pet seperatly. My dogs were fine so I checked no. A very clear no. In fact when my dogs were up, the vet tech specifically said that she would just fast track us so we didnt have to see the vet. Cut to payment checkout time... the woman at the front doesnt look at the papers just says "thatll be 50 dollars."50 dollars I exclaim!! Why?!? "Because the vet has to be paid" she said. I argue, neither of my dogs got a checkup, nothing, just the shot. She retorted " was the vet standing there?" Are you kidding me?!?! So a human happens to be standing in the vicinity and youre charging me over double the advertised price?!?! I watched in horror as she pulled this scam on numerous people. Again, Rude and morally reprehensible. There are so many other places to go. How can a place scamming you for money possibly have the best interest of your pets in mind? Run away people, run!

I must say its great that they offer this service to those of us that couldnt afford high cost surgery. So I hesitated about writing this review. Heres why. Ive taken both of my pets there and had two very different experiences. First time when I walked in the door I was immediately greeted by a kind staff who quickly took the form and admitted my pet, even got a free nail trim when I picked him up. Second time there, it was almost the opposite, I walked in and there are more staff around the reception area than last time, but nobody seemed to notice me, until a nurse finally took the form. Since they did a really good job with nail trim the first time, I decided to add that to the list, but guess what, when I took her home I noticed she did not recieve the nail trim at all, not even on one paw, lol. And her nipples have bled slightly, I assume from the fur shaving. To be fair, first time was winter, and there were a lot less customers, second time was summer and the room was just packed. So, if you happen to go on a day with less people, you and your pet will most likely receive better treatments.

In the last 5 years, my husband & I have taken numerous feral & foster cats to Planned Pethood for spay/neuter, tests and vaccines. I have seen some negative reviews on here, but each time we have used PPGA, we have had nothing but great experiences. We understand that the staff can get overwhelmed at times, but they have always been friendly and informative regardless. The prices are so reasonable that we often donate more $ when we have services done because we know that PPGA relies on donations in order to continue the great work that they do. We even had one of our own pet kitties spayed there last year & she had no issues whatsoever. It is so important for people to understand that PPGA is crucial in controlling the cat & dog overpopulation in our area. I highly recommend them. P.S. I also highly recommend that anyone interested in their services go to their website to review the fees & procedures and pre-print the forms for each animal to make your experience more efficient.

Just wanted to express my happiness with this office. I did spay Georgia for a reduced cost to spay and neuter my 2 56 and 66 pound 9 month old puppies. The employees were extremely friendly and helpful. The vet tech was excellent in handling the dogs, took the time and patiently went over all specifics for the after care. There were very minimal additional cost (just $10 each for the cones, which I heard are up to $25 each at other places), actually my dogs scheduled rabies shots were included in the cost I paid thru spay Georgia. I researched all the Vets that accepted the coupons from spay Georgia and Planned Pethood by far had the best feedback and they superbly lived up to those reviews. I recommend Planned Pethood for anyone looking to spay or neuter their animals either thru a program like spay Georgia or directly with them. I thank them for the care they provided for my loved animals and the courtesy they provided to me.
