Bare with me, for Ive got a lot to say about this place! I recently came in for a routine check up and a tour. I have been to multiple animal hospitals for many reasons and Ive gotta say I have never had an appointment take so long. It took me 20 minutes to get checked in, then I waited probably around 10-15 to get into a room, another 20 for the doctor to come around, who knows how long for the actually appointment and then another at least 20 in the lobby waiting to check out after the tour (which should have been plenty of time)! It was absolutely absurd and they were not busy. The "open door policy" seems great, except for the dogs constantly pulling employees by the room, some actually coming INTO the room and trying to check out my dog. I eventually had to close the door because it was getting ridiculous. They are also incredibly over priced ($60 for just the visit) and charge for things that they never mention. For example-the doctor saw some stuff in my dogs ears and said they would take a sample and see what it is and clean the ears for me. I thought, nice catch and cool of them to do that (It turned out to just be debris, thankfully) But I was not only charged for a $35 cytology, but they charged me $20 for an ear flush! What?! I would have appreciated the heads up or maybe ASK if Id like you to do something and tell me how much it is. The tech also did not seem to know what she was doing. My dog is in good shape and sat perfectly still for his blood to be drawn. She poked him once in his neck and twice in his leg before she asked for help. If your techs are not experienced enough to draw blood, they do not need to be practicing on MY dog in the room. Either train your techs better or quit being cheap and hire people with experience. Then the tour came. The treatment area is incredibly small, looked outdated, messy and smelled like crap. If youre going to take someone on a tour, at least make sure its cleaned up first!! Then I walked down a hallway through a group of like 6 employees just standing around, into a nice break room and cat room, but it was incredibly warm in that area. It cannot be safe to board a cat in a closed room with temperatures like that. The suites downstairs look nice but their "premier" boarding is a hell hole. Broken latches, doubled up runs. My dog should not be in a run with another dog separated only by a latch. I was then showed the outside "doggy daycare" where I saw a nice yard but once again, employees that looked to be in high school sitting around while dogs were humping one another. Doggy daycare is, in my opinion, a huge liability if the dogs are not truly temperament tested and supervised, which they clearly are not at sugar hill animal hospital. I can only imagine how many dog fights they have had and how they explain that to the owners. There are plenty of other animal hospitals in the area that are much nicer, cheaper, with more experienced techs and that would pay much more attention to your animal. Please take this review in account and take your business elsewhere!!!!

FIRST let me say I have picked up neighbors animals from here (helping people out) and the staff here is so RUDE!!! They let your dog/ cat go home with anyone, I have NEVER been asked to show my ID. The people I help with their animals have their credit card info on file and the staff ALWAYS act like they dont know what they are doing. One time I was asked...so you want to take 2 dogs without paying.... I did not even say anything and let her figure it out, not even sure if she did because I did not get a receipt like I usually do. ALSO I never pay any attention to my receipt because it is not really my "business", since they are not my animal. So come to find out the receipt had another ladies information on it and the lady I get the dog for was charged out the butt!!!! She told me that when she called the lady took about 45 minutes to figure out was going on. SO!!!! I was not going to write a review, but now I figured, people should know this place is BAD!!! So I found a baby flying squirrel in the middle of the street, she was about 4 weeks when I found her. I brought her up to this animal hospital for help. I was told they would not know how to take care of a squirrel. WHAT!! I asked if she would ask the DR, she came back and said the exact same thing, we would not know what to do with a squirrel. WHAT!!!!????!!!! That would be like me saying I am a white mother I would not know how to take care of a black baby. YOU ARE AN ANIMAL HOSPITAL......cats, dogs, reptiles, sugar gliders.....etc. They would not even give me any information about taking care of the baby. I googled all the information I needed and called other animal hospitals that helped me so much!!! Lanier Animal hospital, that I have been to, but they were to expensive, HELP ME SO SO MUCH!!! They told me they could not take in wild life, which makes sense, but gave me numbers to people that could help me and suggested what I could do for now. Needless to say, the squirrel is now weeks old, and is the easiest thing to take care of. SO IN MY BOOK THE SUGAR HILL ANIMAL HOSPITAL IS MEAN AND ALL ABOUT MONEY!!!!!!

I just have to tell about my experience with the staff of Sugar Hill Vet. (S.H.V.) And if you are looking for a vet staff that genuinely cares about your animal and you, then youre going to want to read this. My neighbor who uses S.H.V. had a stroke. She lives alone, with her unstable, very large German Shepherd. She was at the hospital and the dog was in her home with no way to get it food, water or let it relieve itself. No one can get near this dog, because he will attack you. If it were possible, I would of taken him there myself. Animal control couldnt help out either. So I found out that Becky, the groomer, was the only other person that can handle this dog. She agreed to come out and help. She didnt make me beg either. She brought with her a team to include: 2 techs, a Dr., and her husband. The insane dog, of course got loose, because no one is taking him alive. And so they chased him up hills, through the woods. All while the dog is barking, growling and his heckles were raised. Very similar to a mentally stressed individual running around with a chainsaw. It took them about 2 hours to capture and subdue the dog for transport back to their boarding facilities. They also agreed to board him until the situation with the owner gets sorted. They took a blanket that the dog had used as a bathroom (because he couldnt get out to go), washed it and is keeping it with the dog. They even cleaned up a good bit. Got rid of the rotting food that was sitting out. They did all of this on their own time. Im so moved that so much effort and genuine kindness was made for this dog. I also know it will be a great relief to the owner when she finds out. I also would like to add that the friendly ladies who answered the calls were extremely helpful and each one I talked to was updated on the situation. So I didnt have to explain from the beginning every time I called up there. And personally, just a big thank you for the generosity and for going well above and beyond. Yall scored a point for humanity. Gave me something to believe in
