UMMC IS A DEATH HOSPITAL. THE DOCTORS DEVALUE PEOPLE OF COLOR AT THIS HOSPITAL AS WELL AS THE NURSES, PATIENT RELATIONS, ICU MANAGERS, AND OVERALL HEAD OF THE HOSPITAL. NOT TO MENTION THEY DO NOT VALUE HUMAN LIFE PERIOD AT THIS HOSPITAL. THE FLOOR MY LOVED ONE WAS ON WAS THE DEATH FLOOR AND NO ONE LEFT THAT FLOOR AT LEAST NOT ALIVE. THE SAD THING IS IF THE STAFF KNOWS YOU HAVE A TERMINAL ILLNESS THEY TREAT YOU LIKE YOUR NOT HUMAN, LIKE YOU DON’T LIKE THEY PRETTY MUCH DON’T HAVE TO TEND TO YOU ANYMORE OR ACKNOWLEDGE EVEN IF YOU NEED HELP OR NEED TO BE CHANGE.THERE ARE MANY ILLEGAL PRACTICES GOING ON AT UMMC ONE IMPORTANT BEING THEY WILL NOT REVIVE A PATIENT THAT HAS IN THEIR FILE THEY WANT TO BE REVIVED NO MATTER WHAT. I KNOW FOR A FACT THEY DO NOT ABIDE BY LEGAL DOCUMENTS OR THE REQUESTS FROM A PATIENT. THEY ALSO TRY TO SNEAK UNNECESSARY PROCEDURES OR MEDS BEHIND THE LOVED ONES BACKS. THEY TRY TO GET SICK PATIENTS TO DO SURGERIES THEY DON’T NEED, BUT REFUSE TO THE SURGERIES THAT THEY DO NEED. THEY LIE TO THE PATIENTS AND FAMILY MEMBERS AND EVEN TRY TO BULLY THEM INTO DOING PROCEDURES OR APPROVING NEW MEDS WITHOUT GIVING INFO ON THEM. THEY STEAL AT THIS HOSPITAL MY LOVED ONE HAD SEVERAL THINGS GO MISSING IN HIS ROOM IN THE COURSE OF HIS HOSPITAL STAY, I ALSO HAD AN ITEM GO MISSING AS WELL.THEY SLACK AT WASHING PATIENTS UP AND CHANGING PATIENTS, AND IF YOU REPORT THE NURSES THEY SIMPLY LIE, THE NURSES TOLD AN OUTRAGEOUS LIE CLAIMING WE DIDN’T WANT HIM TO BE CHANGED. ALSO THE NURSES AND DOCTORS SEDATE PATIENTS SO THEY DONT HAVE TO DEAL WITH THEM. MY LOVED ONE, TOLD US HE WAS BEING TREATED LIKE HE WAS NOTHING, THE PLACE FELT LIKE A PRISON AND THAT HE DIDN’T FEEL SAFE AND WANTED US TO CALL THE COPS. WE TRIED TO GET HIM TRANSFERRED AND UMMC LIED CLAIMED THAT THE OTHER HOSPITALS TURNED HIM DOWN, BUT AFTER THE FACT WE DISCOVERED THEY NEVER CONTACTED OTHER HOSPITALS. ON TOP OF THAT THEY TRY TO BULLY AND THREATEN MY LOVED THAT WAS TRYING TO FIGHT FOR MY SICK LOVED ONES RIGHTS, MAKING FALSE CLAIMS AGAINST THEM SAYING THEY WERE BEING AGGRESSIVE AND ANGRY PRETTY MUCH THROWING OUT RACIAL STEREOTYPES, LIKE I SAID THIS PLACE IS RACIST, AND TRY TO THREATEN THEM, BECAUSE THEY WERE TRYING TO PROTECT MY SICK LOVED ONE FROM BAD NURSES AND DOCTORS. THE HEAD OF THE HOSPITAL, THE ICU MANAGER AND THE HOSPITAL STAND BY AND BEHIND EVIL ACTS, ILLEGAL ACTS, MALPRACTICE, ETC. AND THAT GOES FOR PATIENT RELATIONS BECAUSE THE REPORTS WERE MADE THROUGH THEM. DO NOT TRUST THIS HOSPITAL ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE A PERSON OF COLOR, THEY ARE RACIST AND INTENTIONALLY WON’T OFFER THE BEST CARE, MY LOVED ONE HAD ORGAN ISSUES AND THEY NEVER OFFERED TRANSPLANT OPTIONS OR ANYTHING, THEY LIED ABOUT WHAT CAUSED CERTAIN ORGAN ISSUES, AND EVEN TRIED TO KEEP INFECTIONS THAT HE GOT FROM US. NOT TO MENTION HE DIDN’T FEEL SAFE, HE WAS SICK AND VULNERABLE, HE HAD AN ISSUE BREATHING AND THEY WERE ALL AWARE OF IT, ON ONE OCCASSION HE WAS HAVING TROUBLING BREATHING HE HAD TO USE EVERYTHING HE HAD IN HIM TO SCREAM FOR HELP AND HE WAS SCREAMING FOR LIKE 15MINS, THE NURSE WAS INCOMPETENT, NO DOCTOR CAME DOWN TO CHECK ON HIM AND BY THE TIME SOMEONE CAME DOWN TO DO AN X-RAY HE PASSED OUT FROM NOT BEING ABLE TO BREATH AND CODED, HE SURVIVED THAT ORDEAL, UMMC PUT HIM THROUGH THE SAME ORDEAL TIME AND TIME AGAIN. HE HAD A HISTORY OF CODES AND THEY STUCK IN A ROOM THAT WAS TUCKED AWAY IN THE CORNER, WITH TWO DOORS, YOU HAD TO WALK THROUGH TWO DOORS TO GET INTO HIS ROOM. THESE PEOPLE DIDN’T CARE.THEY CLAIMED THEY DIDN’T KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG AND WHY HE KEPT HAVING TROUBLE BREATHING, BUT IT WASN’T UNTIL IT WAS TOO LATE THEY SAY ITS IS LUNGS WHICH THEY KNEW IT ALL ALONG BECAUSE THEY WERE LOOKING AT HIS LUNGS EVERY OTHER DAY. HE COULD GOTTEN A TRANSPLANT PLUS THERE WAS MEDICATION THAT COULD HAVE IMPROVED HIS ISSUE.THEY WERE PUNISHING HIM BECAUSE WE COMPLAINED ABOUT THERE NURSES AND DOCTORS. HE ULTIMATELY PAID THE PRICE. THEY DIDN’T EVEN TRIED TO CALL LOVED ONES WHEN HE WAS GETTING WORSE, THEY SIMPLY CALLED AFTER HE PASSED, AND THERE’S NO EXCUSE BECAUSE THEY DIDN’T EVEN TRY TO REVIVE HIM.

I went into the Urgent Care clinic for extreme abdominal pain (it felt like my entire lower abdominal was contract with thousands of needles). Now I am not a one for hospitals so going to the ER was not my first choice. Upon arrival I was asked to fill out a form, then proceeded to wait in the waiting room for an hour. By the time I finally got to see a doctor the pain had subsided to a dull searing feeling. They took a urine sample, then failed the first blood test so I had to wait for the lab assistant to take my blood, and had two additional ultrasounds. After waiting in the room for an hour after my last test had been done I had to ask a nurse for the progress of what they were finding. By the end of my 6 hour wait I was told I "probably had a UTI, so we will give you these antibiotics. We need to do additional tests to make sure they are what you need. Continue to take them until you hear otherwise. We will call you in two days with more results.) I never received a call, and still suffer from the same periodic pains even after completing the antibiotics they gave me. Though the staff was very nice, being left in a room with no status update for hours, not being offered anything to eat, and having difficulties with many tests, to only get a potential solution was very disheartening; even harder to swallow was paying the $3,000 bill I received.

I was at UMMC, emergency room for a possible broken nose. I waited an hour in the actual emergency room to see a doctor, no surprise. Not broken the Dr. Said. Dr also said he would have a techie come in a clean up the blood ext. In the mean time a few minutes later a office person came in an took my insurance info. I then waited over an hour and and a half for a techie to come in and do a simple alcohol swab cleanup which would have only took a couple minutes. I finally got up walked to the emergency room bathroom an cleaned up the blood my self an walked out. In the mean time my mother was recovering from major surgery at UMMC hospital. She her nurse was doing some private care for her in her room so i was waiting outside her door. During this time a man across the hallway rang for a nurse twice in a 5 minute time period. I also overheard the patient say he needed to use the bedpan. There where at least 3 nurse i could here at the nurse station and they where gossiping during this entire 5 minute period while this man patient was waiting for a bed pan after they told them they would be right in.

In early August, 2015, my friend brought herself to the ER at this hospital in severe pain and she was not only accused of being a drug seeker, but she was treated incredibly unkindly. She left in tears. This woman has been suffering from an undiagnosed illness for 2.5 years which has taken her across the country seeking help from various hospitals. Later this same week the University of Minnesota Hospital finally gave her a diagnosis; chronic pancreatitis. To the attending and team on duty that night, look it up. Next time maybe you wont make assumptions based on your cynicism and perhaps you will treat the next "drug seeker" with a minimum of dignity and kindness. "Do no harm", remember?
