Several reviewers expressed concerns about the competency of the office and nursing staff. They described experiences of miscommunication, lack of technical skills, and errors in entering medical history. These issues were not only frustrating but also raised questions about the safety and reliability of the services provided.
Another common theme was the inattentiveness and rudeness of the administrative staff. Some reviewers mentioned that their appointments were canceled without proper communication. Others felt that the staff was uninformed and unhelpful, leading to delays and misunderstandings.
Despite the negative comments about the staff, many reviewers had high praise for the doctors at the practice. They described the physicians as attentive, kind, and thorough in their consultations. Some patients have been with the practice for several years and highly recommend specific doctors.
A few reviewers claimed experiences of racial discrimination at the practice. They felt that they were treated differently based on their ethnicity, leading them to switch providers. These allegations are serious and could have legal and ethical implications for the practice.
The reviews were mixed when it came to pregnancy and birthing experiences. Some patients felt that they were well taken care of and had positive experiences during labor and delivery. Others, however, felt that they were not given the attention and care they needed, leading to negative outcomes.
Several reviewers mentioned problems with insurance billing. They claimed that the practice billed them much higher amounts than initially estimated. These issues added financial stress to the already emotional experience of healthcare.

The reviews for Wilkerson Obstetrics And Gynecology are a mixed bag, with some patients having excellent experiences while others faced numerous challenges. The practice seems to have room for improvement, particularly in staff training, administrative processes, and patient communication.

incompetent office and nursing staff to the point that could be considered dangerous. First off we had a specific appointment with a very specific doctor for our first visit... as scatterbrain Jane Doe greeted us and used her number 1 line "I dont know how to check that". (we both heard her say she had no idea how to use their new system almost 15 times in our 2 hour and 45 minute first visit!!!! later we overheard her say the new system had been implemented for almost 3 weeks!!).. well its her job, but somehow rampant incompetence is allowable at Wilkersons. Our second harrowing experience was while they were taking our medical history. The women could barely type and had to ask again and again while we made sure to talk louder as well as use perfect enunciation! A good portion of our information was entered incorrectly (the info was input incorrectly by both the receptionist and the nurse). To top it off she couldnt even find half of her needed criteria she needed to mark, she had to call in someone 20 years younger just to help her use a computer... A bit of icing on the cake while the nurse struggled to find the proper urine test on the screen and made my fiance wait a lengthy amount of time to use the restroom while she sluggishly tried to find the proper test, a very uncomfortable experience. Update: for insurance reasons weve been locked in here so here are a few updates.... lots of missed appointment calls when we had just been there the day before. Over all ok doctors some great ones but aweful nursing staff.

I stopped going here because of the staff. The doctors are great (my two favorite were Dr. Homeister and Dr. Flanagan - those were the only two I saw before switching), but the nursers, medical records staff, and most of the administrative staff (all but one) are inattentive, rude and uninformed. The major incident that occurred was when I looked into possibly giving birth at a birthing center. The birthing center needed my medical records to ensure I was considered a low risk pregnancy, so I filled out the forms to have the office send them my records. My next appointment after that was to get my glucose test done. I show up and they had cancelled my appointment because they considered me to be switching providers (even though I specifically wrote on the medical records request that I was looking into other birthing options, but not switching). So, the nurses are scrambling to figure out what happened and what to do and after waiting an hour, just as they are about to do my glucose test, they tell me I would have to get it done at the birthing center and that they were not going to do it. I even explained to them that I still had not decided if I wanted to go to a birthing center, but it didnt matter. I was told to set up an appointment with the birthing center to get my glucose screening done. Needless to say I did end up going to the Womens Birth and Wellness Center in Chapel Hill and LOVED it!!

These people are Racist! If you are Indian, Ethiopian, African American, anything other than Caucasian dont go here. I had one appointment and changed providers, Dr. Michelle Homeister is a prick! I believe she took one look at me and made a judgement on how she should speak to me. I was told I would be expelled from the clinic because i was unable to go to an appointment and I was 8 months pregnant at the time. They try to make you do things I believe to get money from your insurance, I had to take a test and I couldnt stomach the drink; there are plenty of other alternatives to that test and Dr. Homeister LIED to me and said that there wasnt any other way. I may be young, but im not stupid; I attended a very prestigious college and did well. The judgmental physicians will leave you self conscious and wondering should you stay at this location. There are too many other OB/GYN in and around that complex to allow your self to be tied to down to this one. This facility should be closed! These physicians need to learn soft skills, because what they do there is ridiculous. I filed a complaint against them and I honestly hope something is done. I would NEVER Recommend them to anyone, not even the folks who they prefer to tend to. This rating is poor btw, not fair.

I love going to any of the doctors at Wilkerson OBGYN office. Dr. H delivered my little boy years ago and I wouldnt have it any other way. The practice is extremely family friendly and attentive. I see two of the doctors here depending on their schedule because you get perfect care and any questions answered no matter which one I see. When I needed to have blood drawn during pregnancy I was terrified due to my history of passing out. When the nurse took my blood I was barely able to feel anything. The nurses are sweet and always take care of you here, dont listen to negative reviews of others. I would highly recommend this office to anyone seeking a doctor to take care of you before, during and after pregnancy. Ive been a patient here for six years and counting.

My birth at Rex was overall a good experience, however, I ended up giving birth to the hands of a stranger. I didnt get the chance to go through labor with ONE of my doctors. Yes I they told me it could be anyone from their practice but Im telling you, not even one single doctor that I met at Wilkerson OBGYN was there for me that night . Pretty sad :( Front desk staff is RUDE, they have no patience and wont bother to help you with simple things like notifying you about their insurance policy changing. They billed me 3 times more the amount they had estimated and I had a normal healthy delivery. They do not care about trying to make you feel comfortable, they only want your insurance to claim exaggerated amounts of money! Bad experience with Wilkerson!

Every doctor I met here was absolutely amazing. I started my pregnancy seeing another practice, and transferred here much to my relief. Each doctor treated me with kindness and took as much time as I needed to make sure that all of my questions were answered. I never once felt rushed. My wait was never more than ten or fifteen minutes. Dr. Matthews delivered my twins, and his calm confident demeaner helped make my experience a memorable one for all the right reasons. I honestly wish that I could see him as my primary care doctor and my childrens pediatrician! I could not recommend this office enough!

These bad reviews are making me sad, even though most of them are from 6+ years ago.. I could not be more pleased with this practice. I love how they make you rotate through the Drs. You get to know them all just incase your primary can not deliver you. The nurses, and the receptionist are also wonderful. I loved walking through the door and them knowing exactly who I am in a room full of people. Everyone at the practice will answer your questions and I have never felt unwanted, uncomfortable or like I didnt have my questions answered appropriately. LOVE this place and the DRs.

Was a long time patient there and loved my doctor (Dr. Roche). When I got pregnant they had me see all the doctors since my due date was on the weekend. I did not like that because they were all different. Ended up with Dr. Matthews, who is the worst. He never really took my concerns seriously and the end result was me having a still birth. He told me I was in false labor and that there was nothing to worry about when my sons heart rate dropped as I was having contractions. The next day I go in and they cannot find a heart beat. I refuse to go back there because of him.
