Last week when my husband and I were in town visiting our daughter and son-in-law, we found a small cat whom had crawled up into our rental cars engine. Thank goodness we heard the cats cries before driving the car any further! After several hours of trying to coax the cat out of the engine compartment, we were able to free the kitty who was thankfully not harmed. Because we were from out of town, we were unable to keep the cat so we called over 15 local shelters, animal rescue organizations and local vets to see if someone could take in this sweet cat. Unfortunately we were turned away by all due to over crowding, and lack of space. Longwood Animal Hospital because of their close proximity to where we were staying was one of the first we called and they explained they could board the cat for 24 hrs but would have to give him all of the necessary preventive shots to protect staff and the other animals they care for and this cost would be my responsibility. They took down my name and number and said theyd call me back if they could figure something esle out. Honestly I didnt think I would hear back from them , but several hours later they indeed called me back and said to bring in the cat. Apparently one of their vet techs helps adopt out abandon/lost cats and would take in the cat at her expense. We immediately brought the cat up to Longwood Animal Hospital and the staff was so kind and helpful. It was very clear to us that this group of people truly love helping animals. The young vet tech who agreed to take in this cat was so loving and sweet to the cat and we knew we had found him a good place to recover and hopefully find his new family. Longwood Animal Hospital staff showed such humility and sincerity towards a helpless animal and It is abundantly clear that they truly care for the well being of animals, even when its at their own expense. If my husband and I lived in the area, I would use Longwood Animal Hospital as my veterinarian of choice as I would know that they would be in great hands. Thank you Longwood Animal Team!

Single worst place I have ever taken my animals! Amongst the various things my dog didnt receive like he should have that I ASKED AND PAID for the employees working there were terrible. Two in particular. When my dog was brought out to me I asked how he did and what he had done during his stay. The young man who had brought him told me that basically nothing I had asked for was done. No bath was given and he wasnt taken out for the play time THAT I PAID FOR. Come to find out once I asked around that none of the dogs that are suppose to get play times get them. I was able to find out that the young man who acctually brought me my dog was the kennel manager himself (something I found out from the front desk), but I managed to think quickly enough to ask him why none of this happened. He shrugged his shoulders and said he didnt know. Now I dunno bout anyone else but as a manager position you SHOULD KNOW if and when things are getting done. After he left I asked the girl at the front desk for the mans name which she decided to be extremely rude and short with me about. She was completely and totally disinterested in anything and everything I asked or said to her making me feel very unwelcome. Between her and the so called kennel manager this place is clearly poorly run, not to mention the fact that you can pay large amounts of money to find out later that your money paid for absolutely nothing. My recomendation? Find somewhere much better, this company shouldnt even exist.

The prices are CRAZY high. Half of the time when you pay for a play time they dont do it. Especially if you ask for play times on weekends. Everyone acts very nice to your face, but behind closed doors they talk so much crap about you I wanted to yell at them. When the techs didnt think I was listening they complained about me in almost every way! When I took a tour of the kennels in the back I saw that many elderly dogs that had "fleece" cards up werent given anything to lay on except for harsh concrete. The play yard in the back had lots of dried poop, and some of the small dog cages had dried poop that had been there for who knows how long! Again they are nice to your face, but behind closed doors they are very rude and nasty. I knew someone who worked there and asked her about it and she confirmed everything I said. She also says that if you have special food requests they just ignore it unless an allergy is involved. I will never, ever support this place and you shouldnt either.

An earlier review stated "DO NOT take your pets here unless you want extra vet bills" -- and this is exactly right. We are so disappointed the high cost of unwarranted treatment as well as the unnecessary treatment that could have killed my dogs. They were given 200$ worth of unneeded immunizations during their boarding and we were charged for unrequested well-visits that had recently been performed at our actual vet. After meeting with the manager, we were reimbursed for the shots, and were given a discount for bathing . . . plus we got a lot of "talk" about how they plan to improve their handling of pets and office procedures. I am not satisfied with how the situation was handled, that my pets went through unnecessary treatment, that they could have been seriously harmed or killed, AND our bill that is still 70$ extra on top of it. There are far too many other facilities in the area to waste your time, money, and risk the well-being of your pets.

This place is HORRIBLE. DO NOT take your pets here unless you want extra vet bills. I boarded my three FAMILY dogs over the weekend of May 2013. The lady at the front was uninterested and rude. The younger guys in the back were pleasant. I was told one of them didnt get play time at all. He is 1.5 yrs old and very active. He is the only one who actually needed 2 extra plays times. Paid for extra time and was reassured over and over that they would definitely get the extra time. Did NOT happen. The day I picked them up he had bloody diarrhea all night and morning until I could get him to the vet. All three of them could not quit shaking their heads because they all had ear infections. BUT THATS NOT ALL.. The young male dog now has mites and is being treated with medicated shampoo once a week for 4 weeks. As he is trying to eat and scratch his self to death. This has been an expensive nightmare. I just hope my poor dog is better soon.

We have a pit bull mix who is freaked out by vets. They handled her very well. In addition, our new dog Duke, a Rottweiller mix, needs to be seen today and is in pain. Altho theyre booked, they are working us in. If you want to board your dogs, make sure your pets are up to date regarding their shots, bortadella, etc. or you will be charged AT ANY CLINIC for the health of your dogs and other boarders. Please educate yourself regarding boarding requirements, pets are a LUXURY, and there are low cost vets all around, generally not full service, do not board, just google low cost animal clinics+your zip. Thanks to all the folks at Longwood.
