Dr.patterson saved my dogs life after Decon poisoning my dog almost died because during this time in my life I was bouncing from homeless to home. And I was broke with no ride and he was my first puppy and maybe8months old but i took him to patterson, I arrived after hours, and the bet tech herself came unlocked the door and immediately took my sick Romeo wrapped in blankets out of my arms as I was walking up the stairs crying like hell...Dr patterson himself came in after hours . from his home dressed in normal clothes smelling like cigarettes as if he just jumped up from relaxing after work just to help my dog, WOW....then Dr patterson talked to us, have my dog a shot, and didnt sugar coat anything. He told is Romeo may not live. And to expect anything.. But that he thought Romeo would make it. He also told us to feed him yogurt and hotdogs anything that could easily go down...and we told patterson we didnt have much money from the beginning..so he asked me how much I had. I told him 17$ he told me to keep the money and get gas in the car to get home, and yogurt for my dog. WOW. So incredible my experience. And he only billed me 42$ to saving my dogs life. What an incredible man! Im so sad to see he sold the business. I hope it doesnt change...I love this man. He is a great man And so very hard to find someone who actually cares about helping your animal instead of only caring about your money and helping their wallet! Dr Pattersons veterinary clinic is a godsend. I just hope it stays that way now that Dr patterson has left...I highly recommend this place to everyone I know. But if it changes because of his retirement, I will be so sad to say it is just like every other vet hospital out here . greedy and money hungry. But the last time I went, only difference was the walk in changed. Which sucks. But I can definitely deal with it as long as every thing else and everyone else stays the same caring and putting the animals well being first! MSU is horrible and money hungry! I hate that place. WOW So so sad that people take up a career in helping and saving animals and then dont even stick to their original reasons and ideals . they get a little money and get blinded by the real reason theyre doing this job. Sad.

Like others have said, when Dr. Patterson still owned the facility, Id have rated this place a 10 on a scale of 1-5! Ever since ownership has changed, Ive felt the place wasnt the same. This last visit confirmed this and we will NEVER return! Im use to them doing shots and taking blood work with me in the same room as the animal. This last visit, they took the cat out of the room to draw blood(never even tried to do it in the room with me). Im guessing this is because they didnt want me to see a less experienced person try to hit a vein in my cats neck and miss multiple times. Had they tried to do this in front of me, Id have informed them that other doctors have had best success drawing from the the hind legs rather than his neck that he had a large tumor in just a year ago. I knew something wasnt right when it took more than a few mins for them to draw the blood. After what seemed like way too long passed, we heard someone say(through the wall) "Well there is this vein in the leg we can use!" This must have been directed at my cat...I seriously wonder if a doctor actually did this or a vet tech. Either way, Im not ok with an inexperienced person practicing hitting veins on my animals. We even had to get them wipe the blood off his neck were they missed multiple times while we were checking out. When we were all set to go, they told me the doctor would shoot me a call with the results within 24hs(which has been standard for them in the past). That was on 7-5-2017. I hadnt heard anything yet on 7-10-17 so I called and was told the doctor would shoot me a call after 2pm. Around 6pm, somebody who was NOT the doctor called and left a 10sec voicemail stating the blood test results were fine. It took 5days for somebody to do that and I had to ask for them, what a joke! Ill happily pay double to keep their hands off my animals. What a dispicable experience.

Ive taken my pets to patterson for about 15 years, when Dr Patterson was there I would have rated him a 10+ but now I would give it a 0 if I could. I just left the office about 30 minutes ago and I will never go back. I noticed last night that my cats paw was pretty swollen, so I get up early this morning to take him in. Well if you dont have a scheduled appointment its considered "urgent care " and cost 75$ just to be seen. So I go ahead and get him seen but tell them right from the start I need to know how much everything cost beforehand because I didnt have the extra money to bring him in the first place. We see Dr Gill (not my first bad experience with him), Dr Gill says he has a puncture wound from fighting with another cat and he needs some antibiotics, and we should do some x-rays just in case (75$ just incase) I tell him no and he follows up with well if hes going outside he should have cat leukemia test and some other test done, I tell him no just give him what he needs. As Im still asking for prices of everything antibiotics, pain medication, ect (I mean I need to make sure I got enough money to cover this visit) Dr Gill very rudely says to me "we are just giving him the very minimal basic care, anything less would be inhuman" . I said you know that was very rude, inhuman would be not bringing him to the vet at all and I would hope you could understand not everyone has hundreds of dollars to pay out unexpectedly. Dr Gill followed up with " some times we just care more about the pets than the owners ". Way to treat a 15 year customer and make me feel like less than human, needless to say that was my last visit. Any recommendations on another vet in the greater Lansing area (I live in DeWitt)?

I would honestly give them zero stars if I could. Up until the point of my dog having surgery I was impressed. They seemed eager to help our dog and family. The vet who checked him out was amazing and I did love her! But once I got changed to the vet doing the surgery it all went down hill fast. Surgery seemed to be a success at first, but then when it did fail I was completely wrote off. The vet almost made joking remarks about my dog that offended me. Every time I expressed my concern for my dog and that the surgery didnt work it made me feel like I was an idiot. After six months of dealing with this we finally decided to try a new vet. He INSTANTLY knew what was wrong and what had happened to give my dog such health complications. Instead of making slights at my dog for being sensitive, he noticed that his knees pop in and out easily. NOTHING was once said about that ever at Patterson, but just comments about him being jumpy when the vet touch him. Ever since my dogs surgery he is terrified of his legs being groomed because they had to shave his leg for an IV and it breaks my heart. I had friends warn me that her friend had a similar situation. Everything was great up until surgery, but then everything crumbled and fell apart and their pet too was left in worse shape than before the surgery.
