I guess they had us at “Hello” When we first brought out cat JJ to see Dr. Nicola Williamson, we had a short wait and then we were escorted to an examination room. We were told it was the “Kitty” room, and no dogs or other pets are allowed. Having those smells in the room would elevate the cats stress, which is never a good thing. We met Ashleigh, who did vitals and took information, then waited for the doctor. At some point JJ jumped down off the couch and crawled under the desk. That’s about the time Dr. Williamson enters. I started to get JJ out from under the desk and she stopped me. She said she would meet JJ there and proceeded crawl under the desk with JJ. She talked to him and stroked him for quite some time before they both emerged from under the desk. Genuine compassion cannot be mistaken That’s the human part, now for the Doctor part. I took my cat JJ to Dr. Williamson out of desperation. Due to a herpes virus he was born with, he has suffered through various problems throughout his 10 years on earth. His current condition is an ulcer on the roof of his mouth that may eventually keep him from eating. Nothing normal had worked, but Dr. Williamson would not be defeated. She suggested we try an experimental treatment using existing medicines in a new way. We’ve been doing this for a year now, and JJ is alive, active and happy. We know we’re in uncharted waters, but it’s been wonderful to have him this past year. They always say people who do what they love are the best at what they do. It’s obvious that Dr. Williamson loves what she does, and she is darn good at it!

I have taken my Doberman, Diesel to veterinary dermatology of Richmond since April 2012. Our first visit we could not afford having the intradermal skin test done and Diesel was only experiencing hair loss. In February 2013 we decided to have the test done since Diesel had become itchy and was having reactions to shampoos. Diesel was put on immunotherapy injections, Cephalexin, Ketoconazole and ear medications. We started giving Diesel his immunotherapy and he had a reaction (which the cause is unknown; injections vs topical flea & tick preventions vs duck pill pockets) which none of this is the fault of anyone. Why I am giving veterinary dermatology a VERY poor review is because of the staff’s poor customer service. From what I am told (By the receptionist; Amy) Dr. Williamson does not have the time to call me because she is the only Doctor that works here. Being a customer this makes me feel like my Pet is not important and neither is my money. I have had multiple problems with the receptionist not listening to my all of my questions or concerns and relaying them correctly to Dr. Williamson. Today I called to talk to someone different (LVT; Jess) to stress my concerns and she did not seem to care. Needless to say now I am very disappointed and since I cannot get a phone call back nor have a person help me with my concerns about my Pet I will no longer come here nor recommend any friends or clients (since I work at a vet clinic). I am very upset with the services here and it really is disappointing that now I have to start over at another Dermatology Center.

I am very happy with the services I receive from Dr. Nicola Williamson of Veterinary Dermatology of Richmond. She is a very knowledgeable and caring vet. My dog has suffered from allergies for years now. She was on monthly injections which offered some relief but continued to have pretty serious flare ups. I am very happy for the care and meds she has provided to my much loved pet and I thank them very much. The offices are very clean, with some great coffee provided and the associates are awesome. I think sometimes people see RUDE as they dont understand the process and are not patient enough to learn it. Dr. Williamson is a specialist and I feel her charges are fair. She makes every attempt to keep the costs down and I appreciate that as I appreciate all she has done for both Inky and myself. Dr. Williamson comes highly recommended by Inky and me too! Thank you all for the BEST service and care.

Our Pomeranian, Amy, has been a patient of Dr. Williamsons for a number of years. We are extremely pleased with the impeccable care that Dr. Williamson and her team provide to Amy. We have a tremendous amount of confidence in Dr. Williamson. She is very thorough and detailed in her care. She treats Amy and us with the utmost compassion and kindness. Thanks to Dr. Williamson, Amys allergies have been under control and Amy is a very happy little girl. It means so much to us that when we call Veterinary Dermatology of Richmond, we are greeted in a friendly and knowledgeable manner. We are so proud to be members of the Veterinary Dermatology family! -- Ray & Annette Baird

We have had a great experience with Dogwood Dermatology. Everyone there has been wonderful with our dog and helping with his allergy issues - they spend a lot of time working with their patients, they follow up regularly to see how things are going, and they clearly love animals and want to make sure they are healthy, happy and comfortable. We have been to a number of vets over the years, and Dogwood Dermatology is at the top of the list in terms of quality of service - we would recommend them without hesitation.

I could not be happier with the treatment we receive here. Dr. Williamson is one of the most kind and caring individuals I have ever met. Her staff is excellent and always on top of things. Basically my dog was suffering until I came here. He was chewing the pads off his feet and had numerous sores. Now, he is the picture of health. That is all because of Dr. Williamson and her staff. I trust this group implicitly. If your pet has any skin issues, PLEASE call Dr. Williamson. She is a life saver...literally!!!

The first year of my dogs life was spent at the vets every two weeks due to health issues (constant scratching, ear infections, etc.) I took him to Dr. Williamson over 5 years ago and we now only go to the regular vet once a year for his shots and once a year to Dr. Williamson for his yearly blood work check up. Both of our lives have improved greatly from seeing Dr. Williamson. She is very hands on and actually gets down on the floor with my dog to give him love while she examines him.

Dr. Williamson and her staff are the nicest, most polite, professional and concerned people ever !! She was not overly aggressive about testing or procedures, but rather took one step at a time in a careful and methodic way. She was always concerned to not waste my money on unnecessary tests or medicines. My dog was a very sick little guy, and he is now healthy and happy. I couldnt be more pleased and I have recommended her to several people and will continue to do so.

High Five to all that work with our Sassy. She has received excellent care and is now back to her puppy self even though she is 12 years young. Her coat looks beautiful and although she is still on meds a very happy dog. I cannot say enough for the staff that show love, real love in what they do. I can tell that they are looking as what they do is a calling and not just a paycheck. High Five again.
