I moved out of the area and it was no longer practical to drive to Renton to go to the vet. I asked for a copy of the records for my new vet. I cant explain my shock and frustration to read that while under anesthesia my cat had trouble breathing. I understand there can be complications but the first time hearing about the incident. Which is important to know for future anesthesia needs. My new vet also uses way less sedation which has to be safer. I would not recommend this vet. ____original review_____ After moving to the Renton area and adopting two kittens, I started looking for a local veterinarian. I read all the reviews and with my complementary first visit coupon in hand, I went to Renton West Veterinary Hospital. The reviews online were fabulous and I was already having problems with my newly adopted kittens. They were both altered the day they were adopted, after a few days I noticed some swelling at the incision site for Dorothy. I called Renton West Veterinary Hospital and they were able to get me an appointment the next day. After Dr. Bart examined Dorothy, he determined that she had a hernia and was going to need surgery as soon as possible. It would be her second major surgery in less than a week. They were comforting while explaining all of the options that I had available. It has been 4 months since Dorothy had her surgery and she is fully recovered. The staff at Renton West Veterinary Hospital care about their patients; they always remember my kids and really care about their well-being. Just saying that I would recommend Renton West to a friend does not do this veterinarian or the staff any justice. I can’t imagine taking any of my furry friends anywhere else.

Dr. Heather Stewart, V.M.D. came out to our home after we called her because one of our horses continued to loose weight. She charged us $200+ and said it appeared that they were starved. We throught parasites, worms, teeth etc. But she said NOPE NOPE NOPE. She said do this and lets check back close to summer. Then she tried to sell me some crazy noze surgery for our lovely pug (we love her snorting). NO WAY... WELL Easter rolls around and ... Apparently after talking with local neighbors for many months, she and our neighbors came to the conclusion that our horses would be better off with them. STEWART DEMANDED THAT WE GIVE BOTH OF OUR HORSES TO HER TO REHOME TO HER BETTER FAMILIES / FRIENDS OR ELSE... Which we responded that our children really love her and we have really seen great improvement in weight and mobility.(note: the thin horse was foundered and lame when we helped our friend resuce her from typical trophy chasers) Next thing you know Both the neighbor and Stewart started to call animal control and make up stories. They actually stated that we did not feed our horses for over 3 weeks at a time (NOTE: when animal control took our horses and gave them to her and had Stewart re examine them, our horse that lost weight actually gained 60lbs or 10% of her weight in less than 100 days, and we proved receipts for alfafa purchases covering every day from last year through the date they stole them). We have always fed alfalfa to our horses, along with some LMF and beet pulp. Atleast half of a 85 pound bale a day to our two horses, which is about 21 lbs a day per horse!!!!!! After using the freedom of information act we now know the TRUTH!!!!!

Initial visit was great! I went because my dog was doing a weird coughing/reverse sneezing thing. Dr. Bart Iaia and his staff were knowledgeable and kind. They listened to everything I had to say and gave a thorough examination before making any kind of assumptions about my pets condition. Dr. Iaia explained every little thing he was doing when he examined my pet and showed me his findings (swelling in the throat) so that I could see for myself exactly what he was seeing. This vet was hesitant to give medication knowing that dachshunds have a long history of bad reactions to vaccines and suggest a simple anti-inflammatory and feeding cold food to ease the swelling. He suggested this to me and asked "Are you comfortable with that?" No vet has ever asked me MY opinion about how to treat my animal and I was very impressed that he was concerned with MY values and how I take care of my pet. Dr. Iaia did not push any other medicines, vaccines, or other treatments. He did not try to pressure me into spending more money and was very patient with my hyper dog. I loved the way my pet and I were treated and that were were not rushed around or pressured into ANYTHING. The office visit was a very reasonable cost (at $48) and the medication suggested was reasonably priced, as well. Only when I asked about a flea treatment and de-wormer did they suggest me buying anything else. This treatment, which I also purchased, was VERY reasonably priced, as well, compared to other vets I have been to. They take Care Credit which made me very happy. Thank you, Dr, Iaia! I will be coming back to see you with all of my veterinary needs!

I read the previous review, (mp) and am a bit surprised. I have been bringing my pet children to Renton West for years, and I like the guy vet. He always takes his time with me and answers my questions, and sometimes I have A LOT of questions. I know he has some strong opinions regarding food and supplements but he also has training in acupuncture and I think this is why he has those opinions. He has worked some miracles in my dog, that much I know. I have never felt as if he was "pitching their products" but he passionate about his beliefs, and that is why I like him. I have always felt their prices were reasonable, as I have compared their prices to other clinics. But the reason I keep going back is because they take their time with me, and as I said, sometimes I have A LOT of questions. I love my pet kids and this place keeps them healthy.

Check other clinics before you go to this one. This clinic charges 3 times more for the same things that you can get in all other clinics. We took our pet over there and there was no end to the $$$ we had to spend there and our puppy was not sick or anything, she was just a puppy that needed regular shots and attention, until I got tired of it and called some other places and was shocked to find out the difference of prices. Especially for spaying and neutering. Don’t waste your money here. They were nice people, just as nice as in other clinics, where you dont have to pay extra for the same service. Oh... and there was some poop skid marks left on the floor in the room they had us wait for the vet to come in.

We are on our third dog now, other two have passed but were all treated by Renton West with much care and kindness. We have been to other Renton Vets and came away with the distinct feeling that they were always upselling meds; a rather unusual way they would approach this methodology. Would come to you at end of an visit with a "quote" for two treatments, one vastly more expensive and "recommended" by the staff. Distinct feeling that profit was as, or more important, than the animals care. Be weary of the "free" check up offer! These experiences only made up more comfortable with the folks at Renton West. You will love the staff. Strongly recommend them to you. Jerry & Jerene & Harry
