Dr. Westdahl failed to notice a tumor in my cats ear which ultimately led to her death. That being said, Dr. Spencer (who is WONDERFUL), and another male vet whose name I am failing to remember noticed this IMMEDIATELY. When you would press on my cats ear, she would scratch furiously at that ear with her back legs. Dr. Westerdahl told this was normal, some kind of tick (not a bug, but rather a tick in the sense of movement) Well my cat had this "tick" for years. Convinced upon her word that this was normal, i didnt bring it up again. One day, she wasnt there when i scheduled a visit, I saw another male vet, the one whose name i cant remember, accidentally he put pressure there on her ear, saw her reaction and immediately realised it wasnt normal. He looked in her ear, the same ear Dr. Westerdahl had looked in not but 6 months earlier. He noticed immediately a polyp. Abnormal cell growth in her ear that apparently was quite obvious. When i told him what Dr. Westerdahl had said, this was a tick and it was normal, he seemed almost utterly confused. This is NOT normal he said. He inquired if she had indeed actually looked in her ears, i said "yes every time she looks in my cats ears." Again, he seemed bewildered. I can only assume his confusion comes from seeing such an obvious problem that she missed. Beyond that visit i never saw that particular vet again. Dr. Spencer was my vet from that point on. Now, my cat was old, she was 18, but i cant help but think if this tumor that she suffered with for... years and years, had been noticed earlier, i would have had surgery, but you cant put an 18 year old cat under and expect them to wake up, or spend that much money on a crap shoot. I cant help but think if this tumor that was so obvious to the oher vets had been noticed earlier, my cat would probably have lived quite a few more years. She was otherwise healthy and full of spitfire. I had had that cat since I was 3 years old, so as long as i can remember and saying a cat is your best friend makes you sound a little loony i know, but she was, she played such a huge role in my life and the fact that someone so carelessly dismissed a serious condition, still angers me, now 2 years after my cats death. Dr Spencer, was possibly my saving grace in this whole sad scenario. He was incredibly honest, painful as it was, he told me i needed to consider putting her down, it was NOT what i wanted to hear but he was right. He was compassionate, but not at the expense of honesty. I very much admire him for the way he handled it. I was in the office almost every other week at points, crying and in an obvious state of deep denial about what was inevitable. He was very kind without really ever letting me loose sight of the fact that Cookie was going die from this. He allowed me to process everything that i needed to before i ultimately made the decision to put her down. And when i did, he was there in the room when she did go. I saw in his face that this affected him, he didnt ever loose composure, but i could tell, that he... really felt it. It pained him to watch someone loose something that they really really loved. I thank him for everything that he did. Like I said he was truly my saving grace in the whole situation. Dr Spencer deserves 10 stars, but due to the fact that Dr. Westerdahl missed a tumor growing in my cats ear for almost ten years, I cannot bring myself to rate the clinic to highly, although she is the ONLY thing that puts a sour taste in my mouth.

vet did not inform us of other lower cost treatment options. Fortunately, friends told us about the options. After persistent badgering, the doctor relented and is now providing the other treatment that is a very standard option as our friends vets acknowledged forthrightfully – you know from when the diagnosis was first made. I am now believing that we are still being "extorted" -- compared to the way our friends vets our treating us in more affordable neighborhoods -- with ongoing tests which add minimal real value. The pet - our darling - is old. We are now poor. By the way, these are wonderful people. Dont for a moment think otherwise. Their desire for money clouds their ethics. Im hoping that by lifting their robes -- theyll come around by posting a code of behavior in their office that promises to discuss all treatment options with patients and handing out written material not only for the most expensive treatment option but a complete disclosure of the effacy (test results such as age of pets at time of diagnosis and age at death) of each available option.

The folks at Queen Anne Animal Clinic are PHENOMENAL!! I just moved her from St. Louis and took my 6 1/2 year old golden retriever, Obie, in for his first check up and the were just fantastic. Very professional, friendly and patient oriented. He ended up having a slight ear infection and, in addition to making sure they got me the right medication, they followed up with a phone call a day or two later to make sure I had everything I need in terms of medication and information. They made sure I had all my questions answered and even sent me information via email on how to best take care of dog ears. Then, to top it off, they called back an hour later to make sure the emails went through and made sense. I am highly impressed with the level of care and attention they provided and continued to provide and can highly recommend them to any pet owner in the area. Thanks a ton Queen Anne Animal Clinic! You guys are awesome! Best, David and Obie

Be careful to read entire stories as it only appears to be a good Vet. The average per visit cost is $200 minimum and you must make FULL payment at time of service. Yet, when you are asked to return numerous times for what should be a follow up, not only could this be harming your Pet, but you must pay everything all over again. Apathy at its worst. There is no concern that your Pet needs care, only that they are paid, and paid, etc. and still the pet has the same health problem. I felt they did NOT care one iota about me and/or my Pets need for medical attention, only how many times they could get me to come back for the same thing at the same cost. BEWARE for your Pets sake.

My poor old Golden Retreiver was having so many problems in his old age. I moved to Queen Anne and upon recommendations took him to Queen Anne Animal Clinic. We saw Dr. Westerdahl and she worked tireless to help me figure out that my dogs ear infections were because he somehow got ecoli in his ear! She truly had to go the extra mile to help figure that out and come up with a course of treatment. We only stopped seeing them because we had to move out of state. I would have kept taking him there for the rest of his life. Dr. Westerdahl and the entire staff are truly wonderful, caring, intelligent and kind. If I could I would give them 10 stars.
