My cat had a true medical emergency. I took her here because I heard good things. Since it was an emergency I did not have an appointment. I explained to the young girl at the front desk that my cat had a seizure and now couldnt use her back legs. I was first asked if I had an appointment. Which I did not. Then I was asked if I had ever been there before...again, my answer was no. I was then told by this young girl that they were in the middle of their vaccine clinic and I would need to take my cat to another clinic. I explained that I didnt think she would be alive by the time I got to another clinic, but that didnt faze her. I took my cat to Puyallup Vally Animal Hospital just down the road where they quickly worked me in between a couple of other appointments. My cat was in shock and severe pain from saddle thrombus. A blood clot blocking her artery and preventing blood flow to her back legs. She was immediately put to sleep. In all my pet owning, animal hospital working years I have never experienced a clinic turning away a medical emergency. Im not sure what their goal is at East Main, but apparently it isnt what is best for an animal in need. I will never take another family member there. I will never donate money or supplies again and I will stop recommending this so called animal hospital to anybody because they dont have the animals best interest as a priority...at least not for my baby. From my impression, even if you walk in the door with a pet that was dying on a Saturday morning, you should expect to be turned away because giving puppies and kittens their shots is much more critical.

Illlina Berton, DVM, didnt just save the life of our beloved orange tabby- though that would have been enough - she, and the entire, incredible staff of the East Main Animal Hospital worked to ease our cats intense pain (after having been attacked by dogs, our cats internal organs were hanging from his abdomen upon arrival), while also easing some of the financial burden on our family. They went above and beyond; at every turn showing their true animal-loving colors. It was the sort of thing that restores ones faith in humanity. One month later, our cat, Floyd, who was on deaths door, is alive and well. Illlina Berton is a skilled surgeon, and EMAH is staffed by certified saints!

Love it here! These people love the animals that come in here and take great care of them! They knew every single dog by heart where as other shelters when you asked about a dog most of the time they didnt know which one and you had to show them. I did a lot of research before coming here and it was worth it! If I was able to adopt more dogs here I would, we love our garbanzo and are so grateful to have him in our lives. I keep up on every dog now that comes through here so in the future if we are able I will know which one to bring home <3

We adopted our dog Mitch (Rat Terrier/Chihuahua) from there. He is the best dog "ever" owned. The people there were so nice that when we got another dog weve taken him there as well. It is a small place, and a bit of a drive from Ft. Lewis. But they are very friendly and you can get appointments right away. The prices are good, and they take their time with you. They answer all your questions, and you never feel rushed.

Love them !!! They took such good care of my Scotty and Annie.. Scotty boy lived to be 17.5 years old, and I would never go anywhere else. Dr Berton even took Scotty home to her house over the weekend when he was just a few years old and saved him from some terrible allergic reaction he had from something still unknown. They are also very caring when it comes to that last good bye. Thank you !!

Weve been taking our dogs to Dr. Burton for about the last 8 years or so. She and her staff are wonderful! Weve gone thru seizures and allergies with our Weimaraner and everyone there is always so kind, and patient and knowledgeable. You can tell they all really love animals.

We have been there several times to get our puppy vaccinated and then spayed. I will continue to go there. Staff is very patient and knowledgeable. They call you back when they say they will, it is easy to get an appointment and they are not over priced.

As a result of the poor hygiene of this establishment, our dog required another visit to our family veterinarian and yet another round of medication. I would urge strong caution before conducting business with this establishment.
