Do not put a persons life in danger by recommending this hospital. If you’re going to thank this hospital for anything, please do it in a way that doesn’t influence other people to go there. Please. Half of these reviews are written by people who are upset, and being upset with a hospital is not the same as being upset with service at a restaurant. The fact that many of those people have experiences in common with my own (John Atkins’s was almost identical to our own first 2 hours in urgent care) shows that these are not isolated events. I’m happy that some people are happy, I’m glad you and your loved ones are okay, too. But being so enthusiastic about this place while just below your own review, others are upset and frustrated over how their lives, or their loved ones lives, have been treated here.. You must be able to empathize with them, having been in need of help yourself. Thats why youre so grateful, right? Youre not wrong to be grateful - Im very grateful to the surgeon who saved my mothers life. But only to the surgeon. Not to the hospital. The way this hospital treated my mother, she could have died. Someone could have died. We spent a total of 10 hours waiting for “urgent care”. In the waiting room for 4 hours, and then 6 hours in the hallway of urgent care. But after about 6pm (our first hour), nothing seemed urgent. People were laughing, gossiping, SINGING. And Mom received very little care. They didn’t even know what was wrong until the 9th hour. 10pm. Even though all it took was a CAT scan. And even though they knew she was at high risk for a stroke by 3pm. It took them 3 hours to do a CAT scan after getting into the ER at 5pm, and 2 hours to look at the results. And THEN my mom was given priority. I hadn’t seen anyone move that quickly since 6pm, so finally they showed what was possible if they DID care about a patient. But they should have showed the same speed to figure out what was wrong with her in the first place, and then judged her priority. But again, she was at high risk for a stroke, and in intense pain that she compared to birth contractions. Having to witness gossip, laughing, and again SINGING for 6 hours while youre frightened for your mother’s life, your mother who has been crying nonstop, and you’ve rarely seen her cry in 21 years.. Your mother, getting next to no attention, no sympathy.. So many people couldnt at least hide their apathy. It felt like a nightmare. It was dehumanizing, even traumatizing - I was shaken over it for days. It was difficult enough with everything else, even at a good hospital I would have had a hard time.. Just imagine being the patient. Theres no excuse for any of this, not for a hospital. The NP was the worst. Every time I start writing about her, I end up going on for paragraphs. But she was horrible, both at her job and as a person. The surgeon saved my mom’s life, and I am so grateful to him. But I still don’t recommend going to that hospital for surgery, because post-op care is as bad as urgent care. After my mom got out of surgery at about 2-3am, someone helped her get settled in her room. Then someone came by the next morning. And then, no one came again until that night. No one gave her food or fluids - and she needed a lot of fluids to ensure the surgery was a success. Even then, after knowing theyd made a mistake, they forgot to feed her AGAIN the next morning. So, realizing there was no point in staying, she decided to leave. But she wasn’t ready to go home, physically. And yet. They LET her leave. And prescribed her pain medicine she was allergic to. (happens often, apparently) Now, 2 months later, she is okay. I’m very thankful to the surgeon, and I’m thankful to the few individuals who showed us kindness, the ones who genuinely tried to help us. But there weren’t many of them. And a hospital that allows any part of itself to run the way urgent care and post-op did.. Desperate people, people with their lives on the line, deserve much more than this.

i went to this ER on the 27th of May, their ER staff sucks, the NP Brittney told me I was having a "lupus flare" prescribed me steroids, a muscle relaxer and pain killers then sent me home with a fever of 39.1 ° C ( 102.4 °F) my symptoms got worse so I went to JH with the same symptoms after waiting 4 days praying and hoping the symptoms I was feeling were gonna go away but nope i got worser, JH admitted me after putting me on fluids because I was severely dehydrated and they put me on antibiotics and a really strong steroid to help open my lungs because I had a real bad infection which triggered my lupus to flare. I am not even American just a British guy who likes to travel to the states every now and then but I must say after this horrible experience if I ever decide to go to any of the ERs in this country if I ever visit this city and state again (Montgomery, Alabama) I will NEVER EVERRRR go to Baptist Medical Centre South this is literally the second time theyve tried to bloody kill me I should have learnt my lesson the first time when I visit this state and they said I had pneumonia when I had a Pulmonary embolism but I was hurting couldnt think straight so I went with them worst mistake of my life I wouldnt recommend anyone to visit this hospital they suck and they dont care but they waste no time giving you a misdiagnosis & giving you medications that youve told them youre allergic to and harassing you to pay them even after youve politely told them you dont have it to give, never will go here if I could give them a negative zero I would they suck and Im not exactly sure how theyve managed to get a 3.4 rating when Ive heard that they killed more patients than they have helped them, this hospital sucks and if you bring your sick loved ones here I pray for you. I would rather travel to another hospital than let these idiots take care of me if I ever visit America again theyre like a worser version of the hospitals in the UK who also dont care if you live or die.

This hospital is so terrible! My cousin went in for back surgery yesterday. They told him to be there at 6:30am. They did not begin surgery until about 10am! Then, once he got to recovery around 11:30 they said that it would be an hour before he got into his room. The lady at the information desk was so not helpful. She smiled at you but did nothing; she didnt even want to call to see what was taking him so long with his room (it was 5pm at this time). Going back and forth up there to inquire about what was going on the people kept giving the excuse that a room had not been cleaned yet. REALLY over 4 hours to clean a tiny room?!? Seriously they need to do some firing and hire a new crew. It got so bad that we had to call our pastor to pray to avoid getting into a verbal altercation with the lady at the information desk. After prayer, the nurse came to us and informed that her supervisor was not answering her about getting a room cleaned up for my cousin. She claimed (and my cousin later confirmed) she tried calling and paging numerous times but got nowhere. Around 7:20pm she came out again to tell us a room was ready and to come up at 7:30PM! This is ridiculous to have anyones family put in that type of situation! The waiting room is next to the chapel which gives would barely give a family privacy that really needs with the waiting area being so busy and congested. The staff gave incorrect directions to the vending machines and the security guards were no help to assist to go in the right direction back to the parking deck. MY WORST HOSPITAL EXPERIENCE EVER! I discussed this with co-workers today and they all agreed how awful BAPTIST MEDICAL CENTER SOUTH is. This hospital needs some SERIOUS revamping. SMH!
