DO NOT BRING YOUR ANIMALS HERE. The vets have no idea what they are doing. They misdiagnosed my cat, telling me the lump on her neck was an abcess. They tried to drain it and gave her antibiotics. Guess what? Its not an abcess its cancer. And there is a HUGE different between an abcess and a cancerous tumor. The fact that the vet couldnt figure this out is frightening. This crap clinic then refused to send her x-rays to the new vet I brought her to. This vet hospital is incompetent, and unable to do their jobs properly. They have cost me days with my cat, put her in pain, and cost me close to $1000 trying to get her better. DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMALS HERE THEY WILL KILL YOUR ANIMALS. I will be filing formal complaints with every single agency I can.

We have been with Arvada West Veterinaey since Miss Penny was a puppy and happy to say Penny is now 14 years old. We started out with Dr. Carpenter and always received great advice and exceptional care for Penny. Although over the years and not sure how, whether Penny needed treatment or some kind of emergency, Penny got to see Dr. Matthews. Thank you Dr. Matthews for your knowledge, caring and your loving spirit. To see the excitement in your face when we picked up Miss Penny after her dental and learning that no teeth had to be pulled was priceless. Each employee Ive encountered, whether it be a receptionist, a tech, or a Veterinarian, has displayed a genuine and sincere interest in each animals well being, all while being respectful and professional. What makes this animal hospital even more outstanding is the fact that they wont try and empty your pocketbook while youre worried sick about your pet. I get the impression the ENTIRE staff takes pride in what they do...even the waiting area is extremely clean and well maintained. We drive more than 10 miles one way and pass upwards of 20 other Veterinarians to come here, all because the level service cant be matched.

I just paid them 800 dollars to get my two cats spayed. That is just ridiculously overpriced!! Im a single mom and I cant afford that, but Im paying for my mistake because what choice do I have after the fact? It didnt even occur to me to ask for an estimate first, as Ive never heard of anyone charging that much. They didnt bat an eye when I expressed my disbelief - they must be used to ripping people off, and theyre comfortable with it, which is even more disgusting. For doing the right thing, I sure got screwed...please spare yourself the pain and and dont go there. There are plenty of caring, quality vets elsewhere.

This place is the best Veterinary hospital you are going to find, most caring and knowledgeable staff. When it comes to the quality of life and care for my animals I always want the best for ALL of my family and AWestVet is the best in the state! Dr. Carpenter is the best animal doc around and has saved my dogs (sometimes from themselves) multiple times, even when other docs around town didnt know what was wrong with my dog he diagnosed the problem just by looking at her, a confirmation test was needed but saved my dogs life, over and over again! Been taking my animals there for 15+ years and highly recommend it.

I rescued a senior male golden retriever a year ago, and was recommended to this vet by the rescue, as Dr Carpenter had been the vet doing pro-bono work for the rescue. He is amazing. Very straight-forward, never tries to push any services, etc, and my dog loves him. We drive down from Boulder whenever we have an appointment, and I dont even mind because of the great service, and friendly staff. Plus its usually never too difficult to get an appointment that works with your schedule.

We love Dr. Schaeffer. She was so great during my Westies pregnancies, even though we received so much criticism from other vets. She even inquired how I was doing after I had my own surgery. Our little Maltese had a tooth extraction recently, and even though it was costly, we are happy to report he is much better. We also enjoy his kisses now! The staff is so friendly and really care about your fur babies. We will continue to come here and see Dr. Schaeffer. She is the best!

I have been to many veterinary hospitals in the area having owned pets for decades, and this is the best one yet--will stick here! Dr. Carpenter is so very knowledgeable and caring and my dogs recover from surgeries much faster than when they were done by other doctors. I appreciate his willingness to keep costs down for us and not hit me with unnecessary lab charges. I sincerely recommend anyone who cares for their pets to take them to this clinic for their health care!

I took my "shell shocked" (recently rescued/adopted) Scottish Terrier to Dr. Scott Carpenter for his initial exam, shots, and blood tests... Dr. Carpenter has keen knowledge of the breed and my little doggie showed very few signs of stress during the examination. Im sure I could have gone to a cheaper clinic, but you get what you pay for and I refuse to skimp of the health of my pets.

I have been driving from Aurora, across town to visit them for my two dogs. Three or four visits a year as one of my dogs has an ongoing medical birth defect. They have been wonderful to work with, well worth the time spent driving across Denver. A senior dog had to be put down, the staff was teriffic in a very bad time. Love them. Mogley.

Dr. Schaeffer is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable ... our puppy LOVES seeing her and we feel well cared for .... but we may have to stop going there because the prices are SO steep! For a quick exam and pain killers we dropped 120 bucks last week, and we cant seem to leave there without spending about 100 bucks or more, every time!!!

Took my Leopard gecko in and they ripped off her toe and her tail. Ive had my Gekco for 18 years and after 1 day I have to watch her die. I will never take any pet to this place in my entire life.
