A total waste of time and money. I was so excited to visit what was lauded as a top derm in the DMV. I first met with a PA who was nice enough but not who I came to see. I then met very briefly with Dr. Holmes. She did not examine my skin. She did not come close to me, she barely looked at me. She prescribed some creams and other medications which I would need to pay out of pocket and recommended that I make an additional appointment for a cosmetic procedure available through her office. When I asked about electrolysis, she told me that she did not know much about it because her office does not offer it. How are you a leading derm and you do not have a basic knowledge of common dermatology solution? It felt overwhelmingly like a sales pitch that I was scammed into attending rather than a visit with a physician. I wish that this trained professional would have told me more than Id already told myself (drink water, consider laser treatments, buy expensive over the counter creams). Still have no idea what is at the root of my skin problems nor most effective methods to not only solve them but prevent them from returning. Additionally, it took her office almost an entire month to send my receipt to my home but not even 1 week to make a sales call about laser treatments.

Stay as far away as humanly possible. Even if they do not send you bills, they will send your co-pay to collections right away, even for small amounts. I went there for a face rash a few years ago. They claim they sent a bill to my address that I never received. Six months later I moved and forwarded my mail but I never received any of the bills they sent. They added fees to my small bill and sent to collections, resulting in a reduction of 200 points to my credit score! I reach out to them 12 times. Asking for a copy of the bill (HIPAA requirement but they did not comply). Asking them to consider whether they can reverse this, as I was happy to pay any fees as this undid nearly 20 years of perfect credit and will affect my family for 10 years. No response. No returned calls. Nothing. Not only are there legal issues related to their non-response, but this is extremely poor patient care overall. They are plenty of fantastic dermatologist in DC so save yourself the headache and the poor patient care and go elsewhere. I work in health care and am appalled that they are able to keep their practice.

Dr. Holmes is a good Derm. However her front desk staff is 100% incompetent. I have tried to make an appointment with Dr. Holmes 3 times now on one of the two Saturdays she works a month. Each time I get there and they say "oh she doesnt work today Im not sure who told you that". This is a 45 minute drive for me to get there each time and be told she is not there. Not because something came up and she isnt working but because her staff is apparently dumb. Including today! And mind you I called on Monday to confirm my appointment would actually be with her as I asked. I was told "yes your appointment is Saturday at 10:00am with Dr. Holmes". I call this morning again just to double confirm since its happened twice already, and the girl says "shes not working today the medical assistant is here. Her Saturday was last week". I dont understand how me saying I need an appointment with Dr. Holmes is hard to comprehend. And of course her next Saturday worked is July 9th but its booked. Beyond ridiculous!

I had a terrible experience with Dr. Holmes with a recent skin rash. I saw Dr. Holmes several times, informing her that I had a very irritating skin rash that was getting progressively worse, to the point where I was not sleeping and was extremely distracted at work. I told her that I had come in contact with someone with scabies, but she continually insisted, without even looking at the rash, that I must be allergic to one of my meds that I had been on for years. When all was said and done, I spent several hundreds of dollars on appointments, prescriptions, skin tests, etc.; suffered for months, and missed several days of work. Finally, I drove 4 hours to my childhood dermatologist who immediately diagnosed me with scabies, saying that all of my symptoms were a "textbook" case and it was a "disgrace" that Dr. Holmes was not able to diagnose it. Dr. Holmes did not listen to me at all; she was careless and cost me money and suffering. I would not recommend her to anyone.

Please do yourself, your pocket and more importantly - your health - a favour and avoid this place. I wish I had paid attention to Rachels review. I just went to Dr Holmes for an appointment today and was seen by a physicians attendant who did not even look at my skin. Forget the magnifying glass and strong light you normally get with proper dermatologists. NOTHING! Diagnosis: oh, its just normal. Errr I moved over from London, have a referral letter and KNOW it needs treatment but I guess if youre not qualified and are not really paying attention, theres no point. Add to that rude reception staff and the horrible office (shared with a printing service) and that should have been a sign to walk away. (Over a year later, Rachels description is still accurate). Seriously, please do yourself a favour and go somewhere else. $25 copay thrown away.

Avoid this office if you need medical attention. Perhaps all they care about is the higher- paying cosmetic procedures. After paying $120 for entering the waiting room, the doctor condescended to glance at the problem from a distance. Another patient was similarly treated, we were both absolutely amazed at the lack of professionalism. Medication proscribed me cost , for a small tube, $900. My insurance was horrified. I called the office. Turns out they had failed to mention that it was available for free with a coupon. The coupon was going to be phoned into the pharmacy on a Friday but it never was. Nor on Monday. Three phone calls during regular hours failed to reach a human being, and my calls were never returned. I dont yet have the medication, nine days after my expensive consultation.

My first visit to this womans office was horrible. The receptionist was very nice and helpful on the phone, but once there it was a different story. When I got to the office I had to wait forever, when I was finally seen it wasnt by the doctor it was by one of her Physician Assistants. I was totally upset. First of all a new patient should always be checked out by the doctor, then if he/she wants or needs a PA to take over that is understandable, but ask your patient if this is acceptable before hand. A good physician will always see the new patient first and diagnose them. Apparently this doctor is so over booked and so obsessed with making money that she doesnt have time for many of her patients. This is the worst practice I have ever visited, I wouldnt take my pet to see her.

I had a read a number of unfavorable reviews about Dr. Holmes, but I decided to go ahead with my appointment anyway, since I had already scheduled it. What a waste of time. I didnt even get to see Dr. Homes, but instead saw a medical student. After checking me out, the medical student recommended that a return for some small surgical procedures. Just one glance and the peeling wall paper, stained furniture and dirty equipment almost made me burst with a "ARE YOU KIDDING ME?" The student didnt listen to any of my concerns, yet took the time to push a bunch of stupid products on me. I will never return again. P.S. I think a lot of the favorable comments in regards to Dr. Holmess office are fake. It really only takes you two minutes in that dump to know that you are visiting a quack.
