I finally was getting dental insurance after not having any for about 15 years so I was excited to be able to look forward to go back to the dentist after so many years of not being able to go. Someone suggested Aspen Dental to me. I knew my insurance wasnt going to take effect until July 1st but I was having a sensitivity (to cold and hot in a tooth and I was told by my friend that the first appointment at Aspen is free. About a week and a half before the end of June I decided to call Aspen and just be straight with them and let them know what was going on. The receptionist was very polite and understood that my dental insurance did not go into effect until July 1st. I told her that I had a sensitive tooth that I needed to see about and if that is something that needs immediate attention, Id like to see if I can get it taken care of before I go to Ohio on July the 8th. She said since the first appointment is free so she could get me in the following week for the initial x-rays and a consultation with the doctor because of the sensitive tooth. I went in the following Tuesday (June 20th) for the first appointment. I learned what needed to be done for dental repairs, which I did not think was extensive. At that appointment the office manager there met with me and threw out a random figure of $2,293.00 for an estimated cost to do all of the dental work that needed to be done in my mouth and told me that it was their policy for me to pay 60% up front. note: I had read that policy and signed the paperwork for it, however, that was prior to my knowledge of my what my dental insurance was going to cover. I told the office manager that I would go to my HR person at work and find out how much coverage I have and I would get back to her. I went to my HR person and did all of my legwork and got all of the info I needed and returned to the Aspen office on June 26th. On the prior visit when I met with the office manager she insisted that I would need a dental card and I said I didnt think so. I said that I thought it was just my regular Cigna health care and it says on your cite that you take Cigna. She insisted that I should get a separate dental card in the mail. When I went back I spoke with the receptionist at the front desk and told and showed her the following information. My HR person at work printed out info showing that NO separate card is needed. My HR person also told me that I do not "pay anything up front." She also printed that info out for me. Fillings are covered 80%, cleanings are covered 100% etc... The receptionist said, "Its not OUR policy, Its Aspen Dental Managements." If You follow it, then Its YOUR policy! That receptionist took a copy of my Cigna card and I told her that I would at the very least like to have that ONE filling (of the sensitive tooth) drilled and fixed prior to my going on vacation on July 8th) She wrote that down on my file and told me that day that someone would enter my info into the computer and that someone would call me to set up an appointment to make that happen. It is now the 5th and no one has called me. My husband called on the 3rd and left a message about making an appointment and still no one has called me back. I have excellent dental coverage. I don not understand Aspens policy about paying 60% up front if I have dental coverage that pays 80%. If I am only responsible for 20%, then why am I being asked to pay for 60%. AND why was I handed a random figure of $2, 293.00 and not an itemized bill for my dental work/repairs that needed to be done. Needless to say, I am not happy with Aspen Dental so far.

Had an 8 am appt. first time patient, was told to be there 10-15 mins early which we were, Sat in waiting room with the tv blasting, finished paperwork, was called 8:19 for xrays @ 5 mins then sent to a room for vitals and questions, @ 5 mins, was told the Dr would be in soon...... Tech came back @ 8:40 stated the Dr shouldnt be much longer she was doing a procedure, Dr comes in 8:50 and my wife stated it took so long we were about to leave and the Dr ignored her comment and Asked me what brings me in today, I stated my wife and I were looking for a Dentist for our needs, and we been here @ 1 hr she stated we couldnt of been here that long cause they dont even open up til 8 am, I then said I was here at 7:50 had the paperwork done by 8 and wasnt called til 8:19 and she is now coming in at 8:50. She proceeded to tell us why it takes so long and that it was normal for it to take that long. At this point being frustrated instead of calming me she kept making excuses for why it takes so long, we stated we were done and leaving she said suit yourself. We were not impress with the overall visit of the staff and or Doctor, we were not made to feel comfortable or welcomed, we felt like they were doing us a favor even seeing us. For this I gave a 0-1 star rating

HORRIBLE! I broke my tooth and was in pain. I called the Aspen Dental 800# and was given an appointment for 1:15 at my nearest location. I was told to arrive 10-15 minutes early, for new patient paperwork which I did. I completed the paperwork in about 10 minutes and waited thinking.... "There is only one person here besides me, it shouldnt take that long". Well, time kept ticking away and more and more patients arrived...ALL who were seen before me, despite me having been sat around for 45 minutes. At this point, it was after 2pm and the receptionist apologized for my wait and said Id be seen shortly. Well....10-15 minutes later and nothing, although more people were called in, (again) having arrived after me. I was absolutely livid by 2:20, so I walked out. I thankfully was able to make an appointment with my regular dentist for Monday. I will NEVER recommend Aspen Dental to anyone. The way I was treated, was disgusting. Why would you leave a patient waiting THAT long with no explanation? Shame on you Aspen Dental!

Standard dental visit, except the x-ray technician seemed new... Id told her beforehand that I have a very small mouth, and she still tried to use the adult size parts, causing a lot of mouth pain; and scratches to my gums. They finally switched to a smaller size, and had no issues with that... We finished the x-rays, and I felt something in my mouth, picked it out... It was a piece of tooth. They chipped a tooth. Didnt even get an "Im sorry", or anything, and now the side of my tongue is very sore because of where the chip broke off. My teeth arent in the greatest shape, but that doesnt mean Im not going to be upset about a newly chipped tooth, and that nothing was said or done about it. Especially considering its scratching my tongue constantly. Other than that, they were pleasant people to work with, got me in and out fairly quickly.
