Ive been to the Companion Pet Clinic in Scappoose twice. The first time, I didnt get a great feeling, but I figured that it was more of a personality thing and my dog and cat could really care less about their vets personality. The second time I went, however, changed my mind. My dog had been injured, and instead of coaxing him on to the exam table or asking me to get him on the exam table, the vet grabbed his leash and dragged him across the exam room. He was in a full sit at the time. The vet then tried to drag him on to the exam table--his collar came off in the process. He then mumbled something and left the room. The dog was terrified and I probably should have left, but instead I asked him to get on the exam table and he did with absolutely no resistance. I also replaced the leash and collar with no problem. The vet came back with a choke rope and tied my dog to the table. He then roughly examined him and suggested one procedure as if it were the only option, although I knew that there were other options out there. Ive never written a bad review before, but it was just such a bad experience. When I went online and saw that there were similar reviews, I felt like it was necessary to confirm them. No one benefits if the animal is terrified. I dont know anyone that works with animals that would condone dragging a dog by its leash, and this was clearly not just a one-time occurrence.

Less than one star. I brought my dog in for an annual check up and he listened briefly to his heart and told me there was a heart murmer. Extremely shocked because I had my dog in a few times in the past year, I asked the vet what would have caused it so suddenly. His response to me was deflective, stating an infection most likely caused it. And that it was a Grade 3 on the scale of 1-6. And that I REALLY needed to spend another $300 to get his teeth cleaned immediately, lest that contribute to the problem with his health. I had a million questions and all he did was give the receptionist some pamphlets on dog cardiology and left me hanging. The next day I went to another vet that is further away, costs a little more, but is way more thorough. She asked me about symptoms, listened very carefully for quite a long time (could not hear the murmer initially) and took the time to talk to me. She gave it a Grade 1 and said nothing to worry about right now. The cardiologist would just cost lots of $$$ and not be able to tell me much. Oh and the teeth cleaning? She said his teeth look excellent and she would be stealing from me if she said he needed them cleaned now. Bottom line the vet at Scappoose Companion Pet Clinic GAVE AN INACCURATE ASSESSMENT WHICH WAS VERY DISTRESSING. HE OFFERED NO DETAILS OR OTHER INFORMATION. I WILL NOT RETURN HERE AND WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS VET TO ANYONE.

I would give them zero stars if it were an option. On the phone they gave me a rough estimate of cost for an office visit and antibiotics for what we assumed was an upper respiratory infection. I understand that that isnt absolute when they havent seen the cat yet. After explaining his symptoms, nothing was mentioned about x-rays being possible, just to expect to pay for an exam and antibiotics. When my husband took him in, the vet picked the cat up and said he was taking him for xrays, and just left the room. There was no discussion, he didnt ask for consent, nothing. When my husband asked the receptionist about it when he got the bill for the x-rays, she just said that shell mention to the doctor that he has to get consent next time, but that he still had to pay since services were rendered, or they will keep our cat. They billed us over $90 for two x-rays without getting any form of consent. Weve been there a couple of times for various reasons, and had previously been disappointed by how impersonal, insensitive, and, frankly, rude the vet himself is. These are not the kind of people I want to trust my pets with. We will not be going back.

THE WORST VETERINARY CLINIC IVE BEEN TO. The place is DIRTY, dirty exam tables, OLD BLOOD on doorway, an unknown crusty stain on my chair,,,if the conditions are like this where a customer CAN see, what conditions are like where we cant see. I brought a cat in that needed overnight care. I picked the cat up, later that day I was petting my Kitty...SHE WAS ABSOLUTELY COVERED WITH FLEAS, when I called, they said to buy some flea product , SORRY? Not one word. Its all about the money, not really about the pets or their owners. I heard my cat screaming murder from the back room, I asked what had happened, "That was not YOUR cat", LIARS, I know my cat, the ONLY cat there at the time. ANY cat that screams like murder is being mishandled. No more wondering if my pets are going to CATCH SOMETHING while they are at this sad place. One star for just being there. This mediocre/poor vet plays God, and not very professionally at that, no Dr, House at this place.

Scappoose Companion Pet Clinics Dr. Robison has ALWAYS provided the friendliest, most competent - and MOST IMPORTANTLY - CARING veterinary service for our animals. When our beloved Black Lab, Tucker, was too sick to go on, owing to cancerous growths, we took him to Dr Robison who not only treated Tucker w/ great respect, he actually grieved with us as we released Tuck from his continual pain! Few docs care like that. Weve been there numerous times with our Golden Retriever, our (late) Lab and our cat and ALL the staff have been STELLAR..

I love Companion Pet Clinic and have been taking my dogs there for several years. The vet doesnt have the best bedside manner, but he is thorough and competent. We had previously been seeing a vet who had an excellent bedside manner but she missed a heart condition for one of our dogs which led to her death and she refused to euthanize our poor old dog who had cancer just because she was still holding down food. The staff are always very friendly and when weve had to put an animal down they and the vet have been very compassionate.

Absolutely the WORST place in Columbia county to take your precious fur babies. Dr. Robison is cold and insensitive (my opinion, of course), does not listen- but expects you to adhere to his recommendations. They are cheap, and you get what you pay for. I also do not like that they separate you from your animal when blood tests need to be done. Yikes, I wouldnt do that with my human baby, why in the world would I want to do that with my fur baby????

After reading the bad reviews I almost cancelled but glad I didnt. Brought our kitty in for a first time visit, 1/9/2016 and I couldnt be happier. Nice, friendly and helpful staff, very clean office and exam room. Dr. Robison was nice, patient and answered my questions. New owner, new staff, give them a chance. Definite recommend!

Very friendly staff. No nonsense doctor who came in, answered my questions, did what needed doing and left. Exactly the way I like it! I will certainly be taking my dogs there when needed. Staff spent a long time discussing natural versus chemical flea control. Thank you for making my doggies more comfortable!
