Front office staff must receive advanced training in condescending behavior. At sign-in, the woman behind the counter, while without smile, proceeded to look over us up and down as if we have no right to be standing at her window. They, along with the nursing staff, have a "my way or the highway" attitude. Only allowing one parent to accompany a minor child to pre-op is odd in 2015--or is this 1972? And, once the procedure had begun, parent #1 was going to take parent #2 home since contrary to the Doctors previous instructions, Baylor requires a parent to be chained to the waiting room while a minor (17 years old) is undergoing a procedure. 30 seconds down the street the "warden" at the front desk calls and browbeats us over the phone for leaving the premises. This is quite brazen--no matter what their rules may be. Had we known this and not relied on the Doctors information, we would have driven separately. Both parents were eventually allowed back to pre-op just in time to see a nurse who was dressed as if she had a swanky lunch date preparing to insert an IV. She had be advised that our daughter was "queasy" with IVs, needles, etc., yet proceeded to describe the details of what she was doing to our daughter. "Its going to feel like a fire ant...." And, as such, our daughter fainted and vomited (but quickly recovered). About this time, the anesthesiologist came by. No name tag. No introduction. Could have been the janitor for all we knew. He was kind enough to make all of us queasy by giving a lesson on vaso-vegal responses. Another anesthesiologist stepped in briefly (with a name tag, but no introduction). He was in the middle of eating a king-size bag of peanut M&Ms. He finished them up out in the hallway. Hope there were no peanut allergies in the building. While in the waiting room for 5 hours, my wife was constantly "bothered" by a mentally challenged individual. Was this a patient? a family member? Who knows, but a bother non the less. Once the procedure was completed, my wife who was in the waiting room was told, "Shes all done, Ill take you back in 15 minutes." 45 minutes later, after my wife asking whats going on, she was taken back. On the way, the nurse explained that our daughter should ease into eating...maybe start with sips of water, small portions, etc. In the back, they had already given her a Dr. Pepper and some Ritz/cheese crackers--thatll ease you right in. Into the restroom. I will not use this place again--even if I have to change physicians.

Unfortunately, I have had to use the services at Baylor Surgical at Mansfield numerous times. I can honestly say these people care about the patients. The billing department can be a bit mundane but they do their best. After all, they are in fact charging people a lot of money for services. Once you get past the sticker shock (which is wide spread across America, not just with this entity... #thanksobama), you will find the people are nurturing, compassionate, and like to make sure their patients are comfortable. I highly recommend this surgical center over any of the others Ive had to visit in the DFW metroplex. These people have it nailed! Keep up the good work, folks.

I love having my procedures here. All of the staff is always friendly. Im not a fan of needles, so Im a little disappointed that my husband cant come back to the prep area until they have me hooked up to everything, as he usually holds my hand when I have to have an IV. I do understand though that it is a small work area and easier to get things done if you dont have an extra body to worry about. The staff is always very quick to grab my hubby and bring him back as soon as everything is done. The nurses and anesthesiologist is always very thorough in explaining what is going on and what medicines they are giving me. I love these folks and will continue to use them <3
