Dakota Pet Hospital (DPH) always provides superior service. My family and I have been customers since 1999, when another vet recommended that our puppy (named Crease) have surgery in order to stop her system from producing crystals in her urine. Dr. Krake provided a second opinion that was measured, reasonable, and optimistic. Crease ate prescription dog food for a few months and her system grew out of the problem in the meantime. Dr. Krake has since retired, but this service is only one example of DPHs extraordinary work. Crease lived to be 16 years old and DPH helped us let her go. Less than a week later, we received a beautiful card in the mail that all members of DPHs staff had signed. They also had a tree planted in her name. Their care and gestures of sympathy eased our grief. We have another dog (Book) who has also received amazing service from DPH. A few years ago, we set him up for a dental cleaning. Not a cheap service; the estimate ranged between $300 and $900, depending on whether teeth had to be extracted. On the day of the service, I got a call. "The doctor looked at his teeth; he doesnt need a cleaning at this point. There will be no charge and you can pick him up whenever is convenient," the DPH employee said. I was flabbergasted. Cant say enough about Dakota Pet Hospital. Well worth the drive for superior, gentle, and thoughtful care of my pets.

Staff are friendly and helpful and they do a perfectly good job with routine care and treatment. However, if your pet has anything out of the ordinary that might require a skilled diagnosis or has an issue that might require overnight, dont waste your money going to Dakota Pet Hospital first. You are far better off just going to a place that has a much higher level of expertise and medical resources like Affiliated Pet Service or Blue Pearl in Eden Prairie. Dakota does not have the facilities for any surgeries beyond the routine and they do not have any overnight caring capabilities so the $$s and the time and effort you spend on that first visit are wasted. Affiliated is comparable in cost and has significantly greater resources and far higher levels of Veterinary expertise and skill. They are far more qualified to diagnose problems while Lakeville will simply say they dont know whats wrong, charge you $300 for tests and services and refer you to Affiliated anyway. Once the problem is correctly diagnosed elsewhere then I think Dakota makes better sense for convenient treatment and follow-up. Although they are not any cheaper than a better resourced facility like Affiliated and you really do get a far higher level of care.

My parents have used Dakota Pet Hospital for years for our family pets, and I recently just switched over to their care for my beloved pets as well. I was immediately struck by the staffs caring attitude and sincere want to take the best care of my pet. Specifically, my cat is a senior and has extreme difficulty in new surroundings and in car rides. He needed surgery and understanding his fears, they provided sedatives that could be taken before transit, as well as scented wipes and sprays to be used in his carrier to calm him down. They allowed me to arrive at an off time, and scheduled him first, so that he wasnt even more agitated having to wait for surgery in his kennel longer than necessary. The front desk staff called me during and after the surgery to give me updates, and followed up within a few days to ensure that everything was going well. (Ive come to find they always check up, which is so thoughtful and sometimes necessary.) I trust their opinions greatly and would recommend them to my closest friends and family.

As a recent owner of a sweet golden retriever, I knew I needed to find a pet hospital that would help me transition into this season of life. Dakota Pet Hospital has exceeded my expectations. The front desk staff are very friendly and always make sure my dogs needs are attended to in a timely manner. The vet techs are always incredible in making sure I am educated in what needs to be done for my golden retriever. The veterinarians are also highly skilled in their training and I am deeply appreciative of the wide array of veterinarians available. I have to also give a huge shoutout to Allison the personal trainer as well as Stephanie as both of them have done an EXCEPTIONAL job in helping me understand how to work with my energetic puppy. Having taking puppy classes elsewhere, the small class sizes are a huge draw as I feel I am getting the proper training and education needed for what I desire for my dog. THANK YOU!

We have been so pleased with Dakota Pet Hospital. They have been caring for you female American Bull Dog name Bella since 2009 when she was 8 weeks old. They have cared for her through a surgery of removing a sock she ate to caring for her needs as she carried 16 baby puppies! They also checked them and gave them their first set of shots. Bella loves going there and gets so excited when we pull into the parking lot. The Drs and "Technicians have been gentle caring and so kind to her and us. I know that Bella is in good hands with Dakota Pet Hospital and that they truly care about our pets. They are family and are treated as such. You will not be disappointed! We have blessed to have them care for Bella!

I had an emergency situation when my puppy broke his leg several hours before this clinic closed for the day. I called them right away and they told me that they wouldnt see him even as an emergency. Where is their compassion? I ended up calling another local vet who told me to leave immediately for their office. They had never seen any of our pets before and they cared more than our primary vet did.. This clinic is also horribly expensive! I was quoted hundreds of dollars for a small lumpectomy that my older dog needed and ended up going to our old vet in savage that charged me under one hundred dollars.

We love taking our three dogs to Dakota Pet Hospital!!! We have even started to take two of them there for hair cuts. They do a much better job than where we were taking them. They hated were they used to go for their health care and grooming. They would pull on their leashes and try to get away. This is at both places. They were treated like a number not one of my family. Thats important to me. They are treated like one of us at Dakota Pet Hospital and they like going going there. I cant think of a better place to take them, I wish I had taken my pets there sooner

I moved into the Lakeville area last year and a friend recommended Dakota Pet Hospital and I am very glad that I followed his recommendation. I had brought my cat, Simon, into the clinic, because he had stopped eating and grown lethargic. He had a history of bladder issues and I was very concerned. Dr. Schnepf listened carefully, requested permission to run a few lab tests, provided a treatment and Simon was back to his normal antics in a couple of days. I have found the staff very friendly and accommodating and will continue to bring my pets to Dakota Pet Hospital.
