First of all Dr. Anstandt is superb. He is very kind, gentle and is very knowledgeable. I trust him with my cats completely. The issue is with the rest of his staff, from the front desk to the vet techs. Im new to town and the alarm bells were going off the first time I needed to bring my cat in for an emergency. The individual on the phone acted as if they didnt have any appointments anytime soon, in addition, hes not there all days of the week (could definitely be an issue in another emergency). After a lot of begging, they agreed to see my cat the next day. The next issue occurred after I attempted to schedule a simple procedure. I spent close to $100 on antibiotics and a wellness exam for my perfectly healthy 3 year old cat so that they could get their teeth cleaned (yes, this bill is before the actual teeth cleaning which wouldve increased this bill dramatically). Through some sort of scheduling miscommunication, which was 100 percent not my fault, we missed their teeth cleaning appointment (ie. I tried to bring them on the date I was given on the phone, not the day they were apparently scheduled). Based on the day that they mixed up, it is probably worth mentioning that I never received a reminder call and nobody curiously enough called me to ask where I was?!?! I called the night before the date I was given to confirm the time I was to drop off my cats, this question was met with mass confusion and disorganization on the other line. They informed me that I would have to be re- scheduled in another 4 weeks and would have to pay over $70 again for antibiotics. For something that wasnt my fault?!? She was unapologetic and worse wasnt interested in working with me. This was not surprising as all my experiences in there with the front desk staff have always been disappointing. I had explained to my husband weeks before that the vet was great, but I wondered if he knew how bad his supporting cast really was? And it cant be a coincidence that again, their inaptitude was causing their customer grief again. I can deal with a bad staff, with a great vet, however I have to draw the line with this crazy idea that is ok to jerk around customers and have me write check after check, like it is ok!!! In addition the techs are really rough with my cats. I mean, geez my cats are very sweet and docile- they dont need to be held in such a manor. Even Dr. Anstandt asked them to chill out. I feel horrible for Dr. Anstandt and hope that he realizes he needs an overhaul before this staff sinks his business. Apparently they dont think they need to treat their customers well, they must have many. Im not sure how this attitude will bode for them in the long term?? I would seriously consider going back if such an overhaul occurred. Until then, there are just to many other vets in the area that are professionally run!

My experience with Dr. Anstadt was terrible. He is contracted with petco so they sent me to him for my guinea pig. There were too many things wrong with my visit to even cover. After waiting at least 15 minutes, he came in and asked if I was in a rush-- Im guessing so he could go do something else before helping my pet. First of all, he was very rough on my baby guinea pig. He pet her so roughly that her eyes bulged out of her head. She was very stressed hours after leaving his office. He didnt check her heart, lungs, breathing, or anything. All he did was turn her over, weigh her and look at her. He checked her ears only because I asked to make sure she didnt have mites. He mocked me for worrying about the possibility of death from a respiratory infection, then later on jokingly said she could die (but "probably wont".) He diagnosed her with a respiratory infection--despite not checking her enough to diagnose that. A different vet said that his diagnosis is condescending considering there are different types of infections; and he didnt specify or check thoroughly enough. If that wasnt bad enough, he gave her a shot for Baytril (an antibiotic that isnt recommended to use on young pigs), without giving a probiotic and without asking me first or telling me the specifics. He tried to get me to come in everyday for a shot, then every other day. I live far away. He wasnt sure when or if shed get better even with shots, yet wouldnt prescribe the medication to take home, which is how its almost always treated. He told me you only get medicine to take home if theyre really sick- but coming to the vet for a shot everyday means my pet is more healthy somehow? He evaded all my questions and wouldnt listen to my concerns. He didnt give me eyedrops even though that was the main reason I was worried about her. He very clearly did not take me or the health of my pet seriously. I went to Northridge Animal Clinic today, and they dis-confirmed the respiratory infection. They looked at everything. She doesnt have an infection, she has allergies. They gave me drops for her along with a probiotic since he failed to give it. They were also very gentle and sweet with her. If youre looking for a good vet practice, especially for small animals, I recommend them instead. He told me that just the one visit I had with him wouldve cost me $1500 anywhere else which is hilariously laughable. All he did was hold her and put a needle in her. It cost $115 at my visit today with Northridge animal clinic, and I got two medications. The only good thing I have to say is that his assistant was nice and the receptionist was sweet. He is a terrible vet who cannot be trusted or taken seriously.

Dr. Anstadt has been my vet for 14 years now. Hes treated every pet Ive ever had. my family has always taken our pets to his office too starting with Upper Heights Vet Clinic in Huber Heights, and now All Pets Animal Hospital in Oakwood. My 14 year old cat Cleopatra recently got very ill quite suddenly. She became lethargic, lost weight rapidly, and quit eating completely. She was basically unresponsive. For approx. 10 days we rushed to Anstadts office to pump her full of fluids and meds, blood work and such to try to figure out what was wrong with her. His staff got me in every time I called in those 10 days, he never rushed me out of the office, and has always been the most considerate, caring and compassionate vet. When we couldnt find a reason for my cats illness he recommended a stellar diagnostic vet, for further testing. Between the 2 vets, we established a treatment plan, a month later my cat is back to her prior weight and attitude, and has made a remarkable recovery. In all my experiences with Dr. Anstadt and his staff, Ive never once had a complaint. They have always been incredibly courteous and accommodating. If the south office isnt open, I know I can always make the drive to Huber too, which I have done in emergency cases. Thereve been a couple times (in emergencies) where Ive tried other vet clinics close by and not been even half as impressed and ended up following up with Anstadt a day or two later anyways. So if youre looking for a vet who is super knowledgeable, caring and compassionate for all your animals needs, hes definitely the guy to go to! Ive even had friends switch to him for their pets care at my recommendation.
