Professional | Caring | Alive! On Wednesday evening, 1/11/2017 I had a heart attack. I thought 2016 was a bad year... Felt pressure like pain in the middle of my chest. At first I thought it was simply gas or some ergonomic issue with sitting all day. So I stood and tried to "walk it off". The pain became increasingly acute and breathing was difficult. It was a few minutes before 6pm and I was having a heart attack. Dallas 911 directed me to get some Aspirin but I did not have any! The clock was ticking. Dallas emergency response was on hand (Rosemeade Parkway and Marsh Ln) in 15 minutes. The pain was unbearable. They gave me chewable aspirin and nitro glycerin to start thinning the blood. The Hospital receiving team was quick, efficient and effective. After getting the assessment from emergency response they put in the IV and gave me morphine to control the pain. By 7pm I was in the catheter lab. Dr. Waller and his amazing team were highly effective and congenial. Within minutes, the stent was in and I was finally free of pain. The next couple of days felt like I was in a resort. The rooms and hallways were beautifully designed with recessed and diffused lighting, room had a large flat screen, wonderful sound with built-in speakers. I played a "nature sound" channel that was stunning and relaxing. The menu was delicious, complete and heart healthy. The day and night shift nurses and techs, all were very kind and amazingly responsive (Alex / Stephanie on the 3rd floor, the best). Not one person seemed to be misplaced or unwilling to do their job. Even the on-site pharmacy, which was on the other side of the campus, bought my prescriptions to me! All in all, their hard work and determination made a very difficult situation very livable, even enjoyable. Not only am I happy for them saving my life, but doing it with professionalism, kindness and of course, with STYLE!

More worried about collecting money than helping a patient. This business is not about healing or helping, but selling tests, and not giving test results. After 2 1/2 months after the battery of tests, and repeated requests for test results, I still not heard back from anyone who can explain the tests and what is wrong with my heart. I have been experiencing arrhythmias; what I thought were PVCs, and a couple bouts of atrial fibrillation. I went in for the initial consultation, and they ordered a stress test and a halter monitor. During the stress test, the administrator talked almost non-stop about people he knows, and I was worried that he wasnt paying attention to the test. When I dropped off the halter monitor, they said Id be hearing back about the results. I never did hear back, so I called and was told by whoever answered the phone that they thought everything was ok, but theyd check and call me back. I never heard back, so I called again a couple weeks later, and got the same run around, but was told I had a couple PVCs during the stress test, but they had to check the halter monitor, and theyd get back in contact. Never heard back, so I called a couple weeks later. They said theyd have someone call me back. Never heard back, called again and was told I had some premature Atrial Contractions, and that they would try to have the doctor call me, or theyd set an appointment. As of today, I have still not heard back. I have no idea what is going on with my heart, and I hear from the bill collectors every other day trying to collect on a bill.

Regarding Dr David Gartenberg, of the Baylor Family Medicine at Plano, On May 23, 02014 we took my son to his office for a blood work to determine if he had diabetic tendencies. We were concerned because of a skin rash that he developed and previous diagnosis from former physicians. Dr Gartenbergs staff was pleasant, professional, efficient at drawing my sons blood. Before leaving the office, Dr Gartenberg advised us that he had analysed the blood sample and determined that my son had no indications of being diabetic.Happy with the results, we shared the news with family, friends and my sons school nurse at Plano West Sr High, but was advised to question the blood testing methods used that yielded such fast results. In doing so, Dr Gratenberg responded with a personal telephone call to my wife expressing his displeasure about being questioned as a physician, and concluded the conversation by advising us to seek treatment elsewhere. This was highly disrespectful and unprofessional. Hence for concerned families seeking thorough exams that are inclusive of all their needs, I strongly advise them to seek a more competent family medical practitioner. Concerned about the Wanting to know more about the blood testing methods.

I am 55 years old, and never expected to need the services of a thoracic surgeon. I smoked too much, drank too many beers, didnt eat enough vegetables. Needed a triple bypass. I was scared to say the least. Dr Brinkman calmed me and his staff got me through the procedure. Not like I was going to have any fun, but he is confident, capable, talented, and told me exactly what was going on. The staff were outstanding. Irish, Joliene, every nurse I came in contact with, cared about me and how I was doing. I cant say enough about the staff at this hospital. Wow, I have never felt so loved and important as I did at this hospital. I felt the dedication, caring, and genuine love these people have for their patients and their needs, fears, concerns, and the simple fact that you were a person and not a patient number. Thank you all for everything. I hope everyone experiences the love and caring I got from all of them. Thank you, Charles Andrews P.S. Every one of you are officially on the Xmas card list!!!

Wow there are no words. Majority of the nursing staff on the top floor is horrible! Treat the patients like trash whenever they think you wont say anything. Make snide remarks if you complain. Doctors and nurses contradict each other. They keep people alive but do not show compassion or empathy. Night nurses are worse! Do NOT leave someone alone with this staff! There are a few good eggs, but few and far between. Also, they where telling us he was having severe anxiety. A night nurse literally got in his face over and over again when ever he said he couldnt breathe. She would raise her voice like a drill Sargent and once almost put him into another heart attack. We kicked her out and demanded another nurse. Later found out he had over two liters of fluid in his lungs. From the moment that nurse got repromanded, majority of the other nurses treated us horribly. The staff on the second floor was nice!!

If you have to have heart surgery this is the place to do it. Its the taj mahal of hospitals. Meals are like having room service. Rooms are enormous and designed to be a surgical suite in cases of emergency. Couches turn into twin sized beds. (My mom or sisters slept on them for two weeks and liked it) Huge flat screen tv, with surround sound in your living area. The floors are designed with a walking path and hand trails so you find it easier to get up and walk after surgery. There is a window for each room that is on the wall for your hallway. The blinds can be cracked by your nurse from the hall so they dont have to walk in and disturb you. One downers is chest x-Rays start as early as 3a. So you dont get solid sleep. Best bet is to sleep after you see the doctors in the morning.
