I recently moved to the area and needed to find a quality vet for my cat. I have worked in various veterinary clinics while in college and I have to say, this facility is one of the cleanest, most well organized veterinary hospitals I have seen. It made such a strong impression on me that I commented it to the staff while being escorted into an exam room and the staff member told me that the veterinarian, Dr. Qasim, designed the entire hospital himself, which I found very impressive. I found the staff to be very friendly, compassionate and knowledgeable. They took a patient history while waiting for the doctor and I liked how the staff took their time listening and asking questions on pertinent details. They actually taught me something new about heartworm disease and how it is important in cats as well as dogs, which I was not aware of. Dr. Qasim was fantastic. I liked how the staff provided an introduction for the doctor. Not many places do that - it provides for a more relaxed experience. the doctor was very amicable and gave me a very thorough background of information on the potential issues with my cat - which turned out to be a UTI. I liked how by the time he came in the room he already knew my cats patient history, which shows good communication between the staff and the doctor. He was very cautious about staying within my budget which I thought was very considerate. He explained several different treatment plans and explained the pros and cons of each treatment including price. We were able to decide on a treatment plan for my cat together which I really appreciated. It made me feel like I was making the most well informed decision. To top it all off, when they brought my cat back into the room they had tied a little bandanna around his neck which I thought was so adorable! I left the clinic extremely happy with my decision to bring my cat into Dr. Phillips Animal Hospital. What really spurred my decision to write a review however was the next day, the staff called to check in on my cat just to see how he was doing and how he was responding to the antibiotics. I thought that was just the epitome of compassion and exactly what I want for my cat. I am so so grateful for Dr. Qasim and the staff at Dr. Phillips Animal Hospital and I will definitely be going back!

I made an appointment for my puppys second vet visit (first time at Dr. Phillips) and it was a huge waste of time. I spent an hour in the room waiting for someone to come back, and I was presented with a 60 dollar visit fee that they did NOT inform me about prior to the visit, of course. Cost is irrelevant when it comes to my dog, because I want her to receive the best care and be as healthy as possible but everything just seemed so overpriced. 22 dollars for a fecal exam thats outrageous. Ill stick with her first vet out in Tampa, worth the drive. 75 dollars included her first round of puppy shots, her first round of deworming, and one HeartGuard Plus heart worm prevention pill for the month of august. My experience in Tampa was wonderful, the vets were all very informative and eager with polite and friendly attitudes, my puppy seemed happy to be there getting so much love. I chose to go to Dr. Phillips because they are close to home but I didnt receive near as great of service as I did at the other clinic. I ended up saying "forget it" and walking out after they were trying to charge me 110 for the second series of deworming, THATS IT (plus the crazy, pointless visit fee). The doctor had a very unpleasant attitude and said in my response to my reluctance "well its not THAT much money". I felt as if they were rude and inconsiderate about my time and money and the overall experience there made me feel as if I was not a valued customer. The reviews were mostly all positive and that is why I chose this place, but if you are taking your pet to the vet for the first time, I would advise you to look elsewhere unless you have cash and time to blow on pointless fees theyll have you sitting there for an hour or more. The woman was nice enough to tell me "wow they should have told you about the 60 visit fee (that you are required to pay any time you come in) on the phone while making the appointment." Funny thing is, she was probably the one making the appointment. Not to mention the floors in the room looked as is they hadnt been washed for a day, ew.

I had to bring my little doxie in for an emergency (no appointment, and it was no problem)! I was a little nervous due to the few bad reviews but dont that steer you away!! Read their responses to the bad reviews theyre very reasonable!! I knew I had to take my doxie in to a vet when she hurt her back and I was afraid this vet would be expensive because of the reviews but I literally called every open vet within an hour radius of me asking for quotes on consult fees and x rays cuz I knew she would need a back x Ray for sure!! And this was actually the best priced in the area!! $60 consult fee (other vets were $80-$100) and $270 for an x Ray (other vets were $250-$300) We get there and the doctor sees us right away! Very confident and knowledgeable he just made me feel really comfortable! He educated us on my dogs issues and made a great treatment plan for us! I thought I would be spending $400-$500 between the consult fee, x Ray, medication, and pain killers. They were very upfront and gave us different options, so we ended up opting out of doing a x ray because my dogs issue was pretty obvious even without an x ray. And just taking steroids by IV and the steroids pills and pain killers for my dogs back. Which everything totaled $128 (muchh better than the $500 I was expecting!!) Most vets would of just done an x Ray without even telling you how much it is or giving you the option to opt out!! They also sent us home with information on other vets should my dog need emergency surgery and a FREE BLANKET! Like they literally wrapped my dog in a blanket to support her back better and they let us keep it!! I put it on the table before we were leaving and the doctor said no and re-wrapped her! So sweet! Shes now on strict crate rest for 12 weeks and shes got her new blanket in there with her! If we ever have to go back well return the blanket though! I also really appreciated how they werent trying to shove vaccines down our throats!! If youre realistic this is actually a really good vet prob the best in the area!!

Retweet on Ms. Lin: This clinic doesnt know how to deal with cats. AND JUST A NOTE: in case you dont read all the reviews, there are about 7 reviews from owners with cats, and 6 of the 7 were 1-2 stars with terrible experience. Maybe this vet is fine for dogs, but dont bring your cat here!!! My cat is phenomenal. I walk him on a leash, we go on adventures (i.e. hikes, the beach, swims, tent camping), and, I kid you not, he plays fetch. I have never, ever had an issue with him at any vet ever, until yesterday. We were waiting in the lobby for 30 minutes (even though I had an appointment), and the lobby was a super stressful environment for my poor cat on a leash. Yes - I could have brought him in a crate. But, my cat thinks hes a dog. He likes his harness and leash. And until yesterday, he liked the vet. (We just moved from California, so were on the hunt for a new vet, and I can tell you it sure as heck wont be this one...) He was agitated from the stressful environment of the lobby. Unlike Ms. Lin, the vet didnt even *try* to take his vitals. He didnt even *try* to touch my cat, he clearly didnt want to. In this respect, I mean that he was completely detached and was unfriendly to both me and my cat, and when my cat was upset, he treated me like I was a bad person for bringing an "aggressive animal" into their clinic, even though the stressful environment of their clinic (and his being really sick) is what MADE him aggressive. The vet refused to touch my cat unless they sedated him. Yes - you heard me right. And by touch, I literally mean *touch,* not try to do vet things. Did not even pet my cat. He told me that if they sedated him, they would have to keep him for a few hours (not true, which I found out at the emergency clinic I then had to go to), and they closed two hours from then so he didnt want to sedate him anyways. My cat was so agitated that he had to be wrapped up in a blanket to get him in the car. Worst vet experience ever, and definitely not cat friendly.
