I was in this facility back in 2013, and at that time it was excellent. The RNs the PTs and especially the aides were absolutely wonderful. But either they have changed hands or there was a coup d etat, because now , I wouldnt recommend it to my worst enemy, or then again if I wanted to get revenge I might. Now that I have vented I will explain. My brother was in just recently, having recommended them. But when he went in he could barely breathe, with pneumonia, so he was really weak and could not perform ADLs, (sorry I am an RN so for those of you who are not in the medical field, ADL: activities of daily living). His knee was crumpling, resulting in a number of falls. We had high hopes that hed be able to come home better. Now I know not all cases can be helped, but coming from an educated and experienced background, his chances were good; besides during the stay the Dr told him, that for his knee, which was primarily causing him to fall, they would first try a Cortisone shot and if that failed, there were alternatives. In the meantime we were getting reports of walking 13 ft today, 17ft, 23ft etc. Yet it was confusing when his wife would see him, he hadnt been in the shower; he needed help with all ADLs, and he moved around the room in a wheelchair. So when suddenly they said he had plateaued and must be discharged, yet also stating he would make proress every other day, we were confuses. Now according to MY dictionary; to plateau is to stop. And then we also discover, nothing has been; no shot, no brace, NO alternatives, on his knee. She and I ask if the shot had been given, has anything been done to improve his knee, thereby his progress. we mention a brace they agree and advices US to bring it up to THEM. Funny, I always thought that, that was why I got paid, was to take care of the patient, including supplies, or anything else they needed. In fact Most RNs carry or have to carry, insurance, because if you dont take care of the patient, you could be sued for neglect; if you pay no heed to his/her complaints at all, that was abandonment. But Ive never had to carry insurance, nor have I had complaints, so I might be overstating, then again....maybe not.

A great first impression was made by the ambiance of the facility and the admission process. My dad was very happy to see such a nice place, as was I. However, the next morning after we checked in, his health took a turn for the worse (no fault of ahc). He needed to go to the hospital immediately. Dr Bobbo had neither seen dad yet (fact), nor reviewed his medical history (to the best of my knowledge), yet he refused dads transport to the er. I was forced to leave AMA, after an rn an administrator argued with me at his bedside. (I had to tell them to take the conversation out in the hall) Upon arriving at er it was determined he had another heart attack. This after the rn declared that wasnt what wss happening. His condition hovers on life and death. I must advise extreme caution when considering this facility. I put this out immediately in hopes it might spare others a similar agony.

My mom was there in Jan 2016 and is about to go there again tomorrow. Advanced is EXCELLENT for rehab and a very clean, comfortable and attractive place. The staff is friendly and helpful and the food is delish. There is another new rehab in Mesa that "looks" similar to Advanced but it is NOT the same--the rehab program is 1 star at best and the rooms are tiny and uncomfortable. If you cant get in Advanced in Mesa try for one of their other locations before you try the new place that people say is "the same" as Advance. Mom spent one night at the other place and I could not get her moved fast enough the next day!

I had a great experience. I had knee replacement surgery. I had a rough hospitalization. Everyone went out of their way to make sure I had a good, productive experience. The food was wonderful; the nursing staff and the aides gave great care. I am a nurse. I didnt receive special care because of my profession. When I have to have the other knee done I would go back.
